... that are raging in the Santa Cruz mountains. We didn't see any fires but the whole of this area has an aroma of barbeque in the air. Had a brief tour of Capitola and it looked really lovely - hope to appreciate the beaches and little tow tomorrow.

Woke to a very overcast day so rather than hit the beach again we decided to head for Monterey. Followed the signs into town and to Fisherman's Wharf - distinctly underwhelming so headed instead for the "Cannery Row" area made famous by Steinbeck's book. ...

Not much to report today - it has been the first day in 3 weeks that we haven't done anything much but just relax. Capitola is a really lovely place and our hotel is definately worth recommending.  It will take me a week to do my trip advisor reports ...
