... miss out are National Day (February), New Year (March/April), Vesak (May) and Kataragama festival (July/August). Is it better to stay at Kalutara or Bentota? Please advise. am in sri lanka from 8th to 14th oct. also visiting sigiriya and kandy. regards

... would stay very long. Most people would get on the first bus/train to Kandy. I watched Around the World in 80 Treasures (BBC programme) and Sigiriya looked quite amazing. I've met a load of people who went to Sri Lanka and they all raved about it.
