not far from the city centre is smaller regions called alcantara and belem (bethleham). aside from ancient famous recipes for pastries, they also have great boardwalks, famous towers, presidential palaces, huge monasteries and just when the comparisons ...

This tower used to be further out in the water, now it is real close to land. Guess the water level dropped quite a bit. All of the explorers used to stop here.

Oh wow... I desperately want to explore Portugal and Spain sometime. Torre de Belem looks interesting: And these cathedrals are also beautiful: I am obsessed with chocolate con churros, so make sure you get some while you are there
