... tolerating the challenges thrown at me. I thought the whole adventure was about not having structure and just going with the flow. Yucatan? You can too! Eventually I headed off because I got hungry and was hoping something good could come out of Chetumal.
... . Then headed to Tulum and did another 2 dives the following day in the Dos Ojos caves - very cool when you are diving with a ceiling, but unnerving as I had a leaking O-ring on 1 tank... Took another bus to Chetumal and headed for the Belizian border.

If I had 15 days to spend in southern Mexico, I'd take the bus from Merida to Belize via Chetumal. Spend a day or two on Caye Caulker, then take the bus to Flores and Tikal in Guatemala. After visiting Tikal, I'd take the tough trip returning to ...

... and the relations between the two countries are always a little tense. I'm not sure where in Mexico you are going to leave from, but I know that Chetumal has a bus that goes through Belize straight into the area that Tikal occupies. Hope this helps&# ...

... them, short list the ones that look good to you, then go onto TripAdvisor and get the lowdown from past visitors: If you stay in Tulum, you are about three hours closer to Chetumal, if you still plan on doing the 15-day circuit. Hope this helps
