... and sleeping out the front of my cabin with brief interruptions to buy food or swim. Finally my search across northern Malaysia was successful. Backpackers abounded, and though it wasn't as crowded as the Thai islands, the parties were great. Beach bashes ...
... highlands were a welcome relief from the scorching heat I had experienced on the east coast. On the way back from the Perhentians I had contracted a fever due to the heat. Luckily it only lasted one day and was not Malaria or some other tropical disease ...
... . The only downside was we both got a dose of good ole' Delhi belly while there. We were both knocked out for a day but it has to happen at some stage. All in all, the Perhentians are a taste of heaven and we really enjoyed our short time in Malaysia.

... you can see baby black-tip sharks happily swimming along the reef just by the shore of Pulau Redang. I agree - the Perhentians are fantastic with wonderful diving and a really relaxed atmosphere. They are a little more expensive than comparable Thai ...

Hi Ikram - I don't actually know that much about mainland Malaysia - so I hope someone else may help. I have heard the Perhentians are beautiful though.

... or something if you do, but I fly off on the 20th August (like I said, short notice). I've been to the Perhentians before and it was absolutely amazing and I'm pretty bummed that I might not be able to go to someplace like that this time round. ...

I've spent a good length of time on both Tioman and the Perhentians but never connected the two (or three). I basically zig-zagged my way north taking in the islands off the west coast along the way. Can't see why you can't just head north ...
