... No doubt about Sicily, i think is one of the best regions in Italy!! For the ferry, there are two different solutions: Ancona (if you give up with Sicily) or Brindisi (if you choose to visit the southern Italy) I hope i've been useful...sorry ...

You can catch a train from Ravenna and Ancona to Rimini... can you get to either of those places from Bologna?
