... . If you do decide on this budget option, for the Flores - Belice sections, take a bus from Flores to Melchor de Mencos, walk across the border and then take a local bus from there to Belize City. There are no chicken buses in Mexico. Bon Voyage!

... (chicken buses) will be the cheap way to go, Keep in mind that you would take the bus to the border, get off and cross the border on foot, then get another chicken bus on the other side. There are four border crossings between Guatemala and Costa Rica.
