Crete has offered some wonderful sights, including the Minoan palace of Knossos. Reading Nikos Kanzantzakis' Freedom and Death while here has helped to set this place as the context for the struggles that its people have endured.
After leaving Athens (and that scabby travel company) I travelled by overnight ferry to Crete. But after struggling to find a reasonable job, caught same ferry back to Athens and then home!
