This place is truly beautiful, but in a non 'polished for the tourist' type way. It's a town made up almost in its entirity of half timbered houses. Some of them are in a bit of a delapidated state, but there are enough gems to keep you interested. ...

... back and decidedly untouristy (maybe it was the time of year?). From what I've heard and seen in pictures, Stralsund, Quedlinburg and Leipzig would fit the bill too. Any other suggestions? I'd love to spend a couple weeks sometime traveling around ...
