Our stop in Avignon was just long enough for a short stroll along the river bank to streach the legs and take a few photos of the half built bridge and the city wall. I'm not sure if this little town needs much more time than this?

... in one of countless grape harvest festivals in France during the same period. Three big ones are in; Tarascon(Oct 7 & 8), Avignon(mid October) and Bordeaux-Aquitaine (mid October). Wine festivals are easy to pinpoint with any local tourist office.
