Hohhot is far away from my hometown. I think the live cost should not be high. I guess maybe RMB1500-2000/month (approx $220-300) is enough. In fact, if you don't spend much, RMB1500 is enough in Qingdao, but you can't rent a good room here. ...

Basically, your question is... what is the cost of living in Hohhot and somewhere in Mongolia? I'm pretty sure both places are really cheap and probably comparable. I'd go with China since there is less bureaucracy.

... visa are easy to get) Does anybody know how much paperwork, how much money for living, how expensive is private accomodation (1 room appartment)? Both places have tuition fees for about 1800$ a year, but what about the living costs in Hohhot?
