... our room. For this reason, I went down to the local pizza restaurant and grabbed a couple of take-aways. Got back to the hotel and vegged in front of the TV! Apparently, Antofagasta is not very safe at night, so it was best to have a night in I suppose.

Not much choice is there? Best I can do is to pass on the Trip Advisor recommendations, though it seems Antofagasta is not exactly the most popular place to stay in Chile. Antofagasta doesn't even have a Craig's List!!

Can anyone recommend accommodation in Antofagasta for about a week in October. Prefer self contained 1 bedroom apartment but any suggestions would help. Also any suggestions on return travel from Santiago to Antofagasta would be helpful. Ta
