... in the U.S. My family lives in Asuncion, Paraguay. We will fly to Asuncion and then drive to Puerto Iguazu, Argentina. I know the normal route is to go through Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, but I don't have and don't want to pay for a visa for Brazil.

... Argentinean side. The last I heard, there is no visa needed if going for a day. Just take the bus from Puerto Iguazu to Foz do Iguaçu ( Brazil ). In Mendoza we rented a car for the day to drive to Puente del Inca almost on the border with Chile near Mt. ...
