Wallblake House, built in 1787, is the oldest and only surviving plantation house on Anguilla. It is one of the few plantation houses in the Caribbean where the entire complex of buildings including the kitchen, stable and workers quarters have survived virtually intact. The Wallblake House Trust is maintaining the complex so that it may thrive as a center for cultural, social and educational events for the entire island community.

This former sugar-plantation great house was built in the 1790s and is a fine example of island stonework. It now houses a sumptuous bakery, Le Petit Patisserie. But for many years it served as the residence of the island's chief administrator, who also doubled as the only medical practitioner.

For many years the cotton grown on Anguilla and exported to England was ginned in this beautiful historic building, now home of the Anguilla Tourist Office. Some of the original ginning machinery is intact and on display. COST: Free. Weekdays 10-noon, 1-4.
