I spent nearly a week in Lencois. It is near a national park in which I went to some caves, mountains and waterfalls.

Rio de Janerio, Brazil

I have met up with Chantal and two of her friends, Cassey and Sarah in Rio. We went to the Jesus, Ipanema, Copacabana and the centre of town. I will be back in Rio when I fly home on the 30th of Jan.

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

So after leaving Yaz in BA to fend for herself I headed off on a 17hr bus ride to Puerto Iguazu, the Argentian side of the best waterfall thing in the world. I arrived at 7:30 am, found accomodation and headed off to the falls. I walked around by myself for a while, then met an American who grows weed for a living, and later we met an Israeli girl. And this is what we saw...Then I stayed at this backpacker resort with a pool. I played table football with Germans and Australians, went out partying with Columbians and Spaniards, and had a game of football in the mud with Argentians and the Irish.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

We've spent four days in Buenos Aires now. We've spent minimal time sight seeing because its just so damn humid that it's difficult to be outdoors. We tried to find stuff to do for new year's eve but absolutely everything was closed by 9pm, which was strange cos every other day places only opened for dinner around that time. anyway, we gave up around 10:30pm and went back to our hostel, only to be woken up by crazy amounts of homemade fireworks at midnight and people just hanging out in the streets.Josh is about to get on a bus to Iguazu and I'll be hanging around till sunset (around 9:30pm) and then i'll go to the airport and sleep there in what i'm hoping is airconditioned space till my flight at 5am.Josh is going to continue these travel journals from now on...Hope everyone is having a lovely new year,Yaz and Josh

Our 1st stop in Argentina is Salta, we went white water rafting and went on flying foxes across a valley. PS check out the rainbow coloured mountains.

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

Yaz was sick so I left her in bed to have the greatest day of my life (slight exaggeration). I woke up at 4am to go to see some geysers, swim in hot springs at 4300m above sea level and saw some cacti.

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

San Pedro de Atacama is an oasis town of about 2000 people in the middle of the desert. the town itself is sandy streets and mudbrick houses but it's popular starting point for lots of tours around the area. We have already gone on a trip to nearby lagoons, as well as mountainbiking to nearby ancient ruins (which we never actually got to because it was too hot to continue), as well as sandboarding and tours of nearby geysers. We are going to be leaving on Christmas morning towards Salta in Argentina.(videos to come when i fugure out how to attach them)

Iquique, Chile

So we ended up in Chile... after crossing the border we went straight to a coastal desert town called Iquique which the lonely planet described as very nice with lots of adventurous things available, but we saw none of those. the town seemed dead, restaurants lined every street but they were almost all closed, so we got on the nest bus heading closer to the argentinian border.

Puno, Peru

We have just returned from a two day tour of the islands of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. We started by visiting the floating islands of Uros which are just the strangest and most interesting things to see. About 2000 years ago the Uros tribe decided to flee their area as tribes were fighting over the land so they made boats out of reeds and sailed onto lake titicaca. They decided to stay on the lake so they tied their boats together. Eventually they created entire islands out of these floating reeds and built reed houses on aprox. 1.5 metre thick 'ground'. their descendants still have this lifestyle (although it seems mainly for attracting tourists) but was fascinating to see.we then went to the island of amantani where we met our host mother, Marta who cooked us lunch and dinner. it was amusing trying to communicate with her as she spoke less spanish than we did. however i was in luck as it turned out that the entire island was vegetarian and my struggles to explain myself were unneccesary.in the morning we went to the island of taquile, walked around a bit, had lunch and now we{re back in Puno, where in about 3 hours we{ll be catching a bus to the Chilean border.-Yaz
