A quick lunch break with the Blairs, turns into a fun evening playing on their Argo's, playing crochet in the rain and cooking dampers over the fire. Was great to catch up with Warren and Sherri. along with their children.

Batemans Bay, New South Wales, Australia

Travelling south from Sydney, we enjoyed the breathtaking Pacific Ocean Road. Taking in some hikes along the way, we made it to a rest stop south of Batemans Bay for the night. We then jouneyed over the Snowy Mountains to Albury to meet Brad and Bronwyn Modra.

Whakatane, North Island, New Zealand

Happy to see Tim's smiling face to greet us at the airport, he whisks us off for the 3.5 hr trip fom Aukland to Whakatane. It is a long weekend for them, so Tim and Krista have packed it full of surfing, numerous "barbïes", camping out on the rock cliffs and a full day out in the Santa Maria (Tim's parents boat).. We fished for skipjack tuna and eldorados, kayaked, speerfished, dug on th ebeach in the thermal pools, seal watched, etc.
What an amazing time catching up with our good friends!!

Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia

Driving south from the Daltons, we arrived to the sleepy, but fun town of Warrnambool. Spent supper and night there. Awoke to a beautiful morning, so we rented mountain bikes and road the coastal walk, out to the whale spotting beach, and back. The rest of the day, we spent mesmerized by the beauty of the Great Ocean Road. This world renowned drive is breathtaking as you stop along the way to view, the arches, rock bridges, and the twelve apostles. We ended the full day in Apollo Bay where Sara treated me for a birthday surprise at a Boutique hotel overlooking the ocean.. We dined out at a local cafe, and strolled the main street.. \

The next morning we made our way to Melbourne to make our 4:30pm flight to Auckland New Zealand.

Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia

We were told of the "Steve Irwin" look-alike, so we decided to head inland for a couple of days to spend some time with the Daltons. Nisele,Wynita and childrin, live on a farm in Victoria. We fished for Murrey Cod in the Great Murrey River, hunted roos ("professionally") played on the sandbar in the river, caught "yabbies , and had an awesome time with our new friends.

"Suffering" through the heat wave, we were happy to know that the Madras had planned a waterski party on the Murrey river for the evening and then a "barbie" afterwards. There house is backing the river, so not a long way to go. The river is down, so we do have to trailer the boat.  We all take a turn in the bath warm water. Back at the house, we try roo meat for the first time. What a feast!Saturday is a double-date! Brad and Bronwym take us for a whirlwind tour through different vineyards in the area as well as a tour of a olivery and a cheese market.

Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia

Camping just north of Byron Bay, we use a common rest stop along the road. We are tired so, but do get a chance to gaze at the southern sky before falling asleep. Byron was everything and more then expected. The beach, the shopping, the lighthouse. We saw a pod of dolphins, rays, turtles and sharks on our walk! Late afternoon we meandore south through coastal towns,etc.

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Sydney captivated us. From arriving to Nick Robertson, he took us down to the harbour for a late dinner date and to enjoy the Australian Day festivities. We dined along the waterfront where he will be married in a few weeks time to Belinda. Tuesday was Bondi Beach, The Gap, Watsons Bay, shopping downtown. In the evening we met up with Harry and Susanna ( a couple we met in India). THey live in a one-bedroom two-story "terrace house" in Surry Hills. We walked to dinner at a woodstove pizza place, then walked down for gelato.  Great to catch up with them. Spent the night with Dave (also met in India). He lives in Potts Point minutes from the harbour. In the morning, we walked through the botanical gardens and then took the ferry over to Manly beach for breakfast and a swim. Dave took us up to Palm Beach in the afternoon. we sailed on his parents 33m sailboat, rowing into secluded beaches to break up the time. Late supper at a thai restaurant.
