Hello from Wisconsin!!  We arrived home safely yesterday and it is great to be home!!  We continued our journey from Limerick by train and arrived in Dublin around 9:00.  We were able to catch a bus to the airport and our wait began!  We met a guy, Ryan, from Texas who was also waiting for an early flight.  We played cards with him for awhile and shared stories of our travel.  Our flight took off for Manchester at 6:30 and I fell asleep before we even took off and woke with a jolt when we landed 45 minutes later!!  We had to change terminals in Manchester and then we had time to find breakfast and change before our flight to Chicago.  We took off at around 10:30 and I was able to sleep through much of the flight, which was a good thing!  After having 2 meals on the plane, we landed at around 12:30, a half hour earlier than we expected!  Sarah's sister, Becky and her husband, Matt and their son, Aaron picked us up and the airport and brought us to Sarah's house where I jumped in my car and headed home!I arrived back at my mom's around 8:00 last night and after talking with Mom and Krystal for awhile, I collapsed into bed around 11.  It is great to be home and I cannot wait to see all of you and share with you pictures from my trip!!xx Tanya

Inishere, Western Ireland, Ireland

Today was a great day!  We took a ferry to the Aran Islands and spent the day biking around checking out this very small island called Inishere.  We had a great time looking at a shipwreck, a lighthouse and exploring castle ruins.  I am sure I will be sore tomorrow from the biking, but it was worth it!On the way back, the boat took us to see the Cliffs of Moher.  They were gorgeous!!  I am really glad we decided to take the ferry today!We ate supper at a small cafe, called Gus O'Conner's pub and listened to a live Irish band.  It was pretty cool!  We also watched an amazing sunset before the cold weather kicked us back to our hostel!!I hope all is well at home!See you soon!xx Tanya

Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland

Hello for the last time from Europe!!  We left Doolin today around 12:30 on a bus to Limerick.  We are currently in Limerick, waiting for a 5:30 train to Dublin, where we will catch a bus to the airport.  We will spend the night in some very comfortable chairs (Thank You, Starbucks) and our flight leaves Dublin at 6:30 tomorrow morning.  We fly to Manchester, England for a 3 hour layover and then at 10:30, we board our plane for our flight home!!  We land in Chicago around 1:00 and Sarah's sister Becky, her husband Matt and their son, Aaron will be picking us up!!  It is going to be a long few days, but it will be worth it.  We are kind of in a state of sad/happy right now.  We are sad that we are leaving and that our 6 weeks is over, but yet, really happy to be going home!!  We are very torn!!I will talk to you all soon from home!!xx Tanya

Lisdoonvarna, County Clare, Ireland

Greetings from Ireland!!  This morning, we did some much needed laundry before catching our train to Limerick.  The train ride was beautiful.  It was really cool to see the Ireland countryside!  From Limerick, we are caught a bus to Lisdoonvarna which is near the Cliffs of Moher.  We arrived at our hostel with the help of a sweet Irish lady who called our hostel on her cell phone for directions for us!!  It was great!! We were put in different rooms because we booked so late, but it worked out well.  I never met my roommates, they came and left when I was either not in the room or sleeping!  Sarah's roommates were great!  We went for a walk around Lisdoonvarna with her roommate, Tanja from Germany.  She is a teacher as well.  We had a great time chatting with her!  We had a chance to listen to some live Irish music for a short time tonight, it was pretty good!I hope all is well at home!Love and miss you all!xx Tanya

Doolin, County Clare, Ireland

Wow!  Today was a great day!  This morning, we changed hostels, so we had to take a bus (only a short ride!) to our new hostel just up the road.  After we arrived, we went exploring in Doolin and found some really cool cliffs to walk on.  We had a great time walking around on huge rocks and looking for shells in the cracks and crevices of the cliffs.  We then boarded a bus to the Cliffs of Moher and WOW!  They were amazing!  We walked around on the edges of some pretty scary cliffs and could see the Atlantic Ocean!  It was so cool!  We took some really cool pictures and spent a lot of time walking around and enjoying the view!!  We ate supper at a small pub and enjoyed the music and the atmosphere!  It was great!!I hope all is well at home!  I love and miss you all!xx Tanya

Paris, Île-de-France, France

Hello!  We are leaving Germany today and made a stop in Köln, Germany.  We visited a large church which was beautiful while we waited for our train to Paris.  We also spent some time booking the final days of our trip!  I cannot believe that it is almost over!!Our train to Paris ran into trouble when there was a power outage in Germany, so we ended up sitting in the middle of a field for over 2 hours.  It was a long time to sit on a smelly, hot train!  We arrived in Paris in time to dump our bags at our hotel and make it to the Eiffel Tower to see it glowing blue and sparkling!!  It was really neat to walk under the Tower and see all the colors and sparkles! We ate supper under the Eiffel Tower, I had a crepe with chocolate, and then caught the metro back to our hotel.  Tomorrow, we will be exploring Paris at a little slower pace than the last time and I am very excited!!xx Tanya

Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland

Today was a great day!  We woke early to beat the rush to the Louvre and were standing in line at 8:20 about 20 people from the front.  We were able to get in and look around before the major crowds hit.  Sarah and I split up inside because we wanted to see different things and it was just easier!! I really enjoyed seeing the paintings and statues that I have heard about in books and classes for years!  I walked around for about 3 hours and then met Sarah at an arch right outside.  From the Louvre, we went to Notre Dame Cathedral.  The outside was gorgeous!  The marble statues and carvings were amazing!  Inside however, there were so many people that it was hard to enjoy the church itself.  We quickly walked through and then left. We also went to Butte Montmarte, a church located at the top of a very large hill!  We walked up a ton of steps, but the view from the top made it well worth it!  We were able to see all over the city of Paris!!  It was beautiful!!  We enjoyed walking around inside the church, which was less crowded and seeing the statues and paintings!We left Paris by train to get to Brussels, where we caught a train to Dublin.  We met a guy named Miles at the airport and talked about our trip and the joys of flying discount airlines.  Our plane was delayed over 45 minutes due to bad weather in Dublin, so we ended up getting in pretty late and thought we were going to have to sleep at the airport because the buses had quit running.  However, Miles agreed to split a cab with us, so we were able to make it to our hostel to sleep!  We basically collapsed into bed and went right to sleep!!I am excited the see the Cliffs of Moher in the next couple of days, but what I am most excited about is coming home!!  It has been an amazing trip, but I am ready to be home and see all of you!  I cannot wait to share with you the adventures and pictures of the past 6 weeks!  I hope you are ready....xx Tanya

Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany

WOW!!  We arrived in Germany around 2:30 today in Frankfurt.  We walked around town and enjoyed seeing the river and a small set of houses and businesses that were redone to look like they did years ago.  It was really neat to see the houses!  We had a great time walking around town and before we knew it, it was time to say good bye!  Cassie and Kim left from Frankfurt to come home and Sarah and I head to Bacharach to our hotel.  We boarded the same train and Cassie and Kim got off at the airport.  It was hard to say goodbye!  We are really going to miss them over the next week!Sarah and I continued our journey and by a stroke of luck, were able to get off the train at our stop before we thought we would.  We found our hotel very easily and it is so cute.  I really like it here!  Everything is as I imagined it would be.  Tomorrow, we are taking a Rhine River Cruise to see castles and the river itself.  I am very excited!I love and miss you all!xx Tanya

Bacharach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Wow!! Today was a great day!  Sarah and I spent the night at a charming little hotel with a semi crazy lady running it!  She kept asking quesitons, but never stopped long enough for the answer.  She was fun.  Our room was directly next to the train tracks, but it was not as bad as it sounds.  I actually slept very well!We took a Rhine River Cruise down the Rhine River today and it was amazing!  We were able to see many castles and a very cool river coastline.  We got off the boat in St. Goar and toured the Rheinfel Castle!  It was really cool to walk around in the ruins of the castle and tour the dark and narrow tunnels!  We got back on the boat for about another 2 hours and traveled down the Rhine, enjoying the scenery and the really cool thunderstorm!  However, when we got off the boat, the storm was not as cool because the train station was quite a hike!  We were wet and cold by the time we reached the station!I had such a great day and made a few Christmas purchases for myelf!  I have really enjoyed Germany and I will miss it when we head to Paris tomorrow!I love and miss you!xx Tanya
