We have done a lot of searching and finally found what we hope to be a great new RV Park in Los Barriles, Baja California Del Sur, Mexico. Los Barriles is a town we visited several times on our first 2 trips and is known for the constant wind and its popularity for kite boarding and windsurfing as well as fishing. The town is about 70 miles north of Las Brisas in San Jose which is where we stayed during our 2007 visit. It is also only about 75 miles south of the city of La Paz and of course is still on the beautiful Sea of Cortez (Jacque Cousteau's "aquarium of the world").The "Playanorte" RV park is right on the beach and has actually been there for 10 years but in the past did not have electricity or any other real amenities. Over the past 2 years owner William Harnecker has added power, sewer, water and a bath as well as a soon to be completed laundry facility. It is within walking distance of a new hotel with a 4 star restaurant. Check out their website to see some pictures and other info about the park.In preparation for the trip, Gilles is busy with the renovation of the 1989 Fleetwood Southwind. A whole new interior is in the works including hardwood (floating laminate) flooring and new bedroom floorplan with increased storage. See the pictures of the renovation job here.For now we are planning to take both RV's and at least one vehicle with the idea to leave Gilles' RV there and return in the Spring with mine. Hopefully if all goes well, we will begin construction on a palapa (WHAT IS A "PALAPA"? A palm thatch hut or umbrella on the Mexican beaches - a shelter to get out of the sun with an ice cold beer or margarita....) to shade our permanent spot there and next year continue with construction of the outdoor kitchen and living area.We will arrive in Los Barriles around the 15th of January - this means a departure from Panama City Beach around the first of the year to make the 3,000 plus mile trek!To see my Baja 3 blog on Blogger (complete with translator, music,&nbsp;and Current Weather for Los Barriles <i>click here)

Hey everybodySorry this took so long to post but I wanted to close the blog and let everyone know we are back home safe in Panama City Beach.Our last week on the road was spent in Nashville and Shelbyville Tennessee at the Grand ole Opry and the National Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration with my parents.We had a great trip and happily arrived home on September 5th.Thanks for checking on us!

We came to rest, see the arch, and have some real Italian food in the country's largest Little Italy.&nbsp; We did it all in that order!It is unusually hot here - high 90's and all 3 air conditioners in the motor home have to run full time to keep it livable for us and the dogs.&nbsp; The arch is something you just have to see in person to appreciate.&nbsp; It is beautiful in the pictues, but to see it up close and realize what was required to build it.....and what it stands for.... is and entirely different thing.It is actually a monuement to the Thomas Jefferson/Louis and Clarke era or the great western expansion of the United States.&nbsp; Hence the name the "Gateway Arch" (gateway to the west).The arch was actually the winning design out of 172 architectural entries into a contest for the best national monuement to TJ in 1947.&nbsp; Construction of the arch began in 1962 and was completed in late 1965.&nbsp; It was an engineering feat in its day and exemplifies the pioneer spirit of the true American pioneers......Anyway if you go - DO take the ride up to the top in the tram (unless you are claustrophobic- it feels like you are in a space capsule)DO watch the movie about the construction of the arch.DO eat lunch before you go there cause the food is basically non exixtent.DON'T try to take pics on the ride up inside the capsule....they won't come out!
