Valetta, Malta

What's up! We've made it to the island and I didn't think it could get any hotter, but oh I was wrong. It's 39-40 degrees (100F) already in the morning and it sucks to be working outside. It's a nice place with a lot of history and a lot of buildings still standing. Apparently the Greeks were here 600 B.C and built this city and wherever you look it looks really old too. Maybe it's a lack of funds as well, but who cares in this heat anyway. Hey, at least I got to get in the water today. On our trip down here the owner decided to turn around to go for a swim and so we did. We stopped the yacht and 5 minutes later we were on our way again and this 2 minute swim just cost them 3000 Euros in fuel. Talk about losing concept of money. Well we should be on our way to Nice soon and it's going to be nice to get back to the Riviera again. This crew really need a vacation after this trip let me tell you. So long for now and see ya soon. Tim
Taormina, Italy

Ciao again! Now at the eastern side of Sicily beneath the volcano Etna. Still smoke rising up from the 3000 meter high mountain with villages sleeping below. Owners getting on our nerves but still nice to be on the go. It's getting freakin hot as hell and I just want to go for a swim. Will be back soon. Tim
Corfu, Greece

What's up you all! After a rather long visit to Croatia we are finally heading south again. The trip from Croatia was nice and we reached Corfu in the afternoon. It is greener than what I actually expected, but then again it's still pretty early in the season. The water and visibility is awesome here. Turcoise water and you who know diving should know that there is about 30-40 meter visibility. 26 degrees (80 F) in the water and 34 (94 F)in the air, which makes working pretty hard some days. We are steaming for Scicily soon and I will get back to you as soon as I have some more time. Have a good one everybody. Cheers, Tim
Dubrovnik, Croatia

What's up guys! Well, we finally got out of the yard and got to spend some time on the big blue. We have had great weather all along and I was more than stunned by Croatia. A lot greener and nicer than the Greek Isles and crystal clear waters as well. The crew is great to work with and of course the days are long. This is absolutely a place to visit and I will for sure come back with a sailboat instead. It really reminds me about Stockholm with all it's islands in the archipelago, but just a little bit more exotic. Hey, a palmtree is all I need to be happy most of the time. I hope you're all enjoying the summer so far and I'm heading for Sweden for the midsummer eve's crazyness. Have a good one and see you soon. Cheers, Tim
Ancona, Italy

What's up everyone! Well, we're finally back in the water and the trip to Croatia is getting closer by the day. The boat is still a mess, but is looking better every day. The schedule is still not quite set, except for Croatia and possibly to Greece after that. My Italian has finally reached a better level of speed and understanding and it's been great to spend a couple of months here. I'm back to my old feelings for Italy and I can really understand why all these tourists come back every year. This part of this country should definately be seen if ever visiting Italy. I hope you're all doing great and the summer plans have been set. Anyone coming to Europe by the way?? Well, that's it for now and I wish yoiu all a great beginning of the summer. Of course I'll be back with some more stories and what not, but until then, have a great time. Cheers, Tim

        San Marino, San Marino

Ciao tutti! Finally getting some time to make a new entry. The work is going forwards here at the shipyard and we can begin to see the end of this long journey. $650 000 is being dumped into the boat for a new interior and another 2 mill for the rest of the upgrade. Just like that. Damn it would be nice to be able to do the same! Anyway, my girl was down from Sweden for a week and we had some time to go see some of the sites around here. First San Marino, which was beautiful, but destroyed by vendors all over this beautiful town trying to push their **** to the tourists. Taxfree but still expensive. The landscape here is very special I must say. I have never see such a hilly and colorful countryside. We also went to Porto Nuovo where Napoleon had his private stable. A very nice bay with the stable now converted into one of the nicer hotels around here. Right on the water. The mountain behind it doesn't seem to belong to Italy at all. It looks like a mountain side of some African jungle. The water is still pretty cold here, but I heard the snow is finally gone from the northern mountains so it will start to warm up a little bit soon. We have 2 tenders to the boat and I can't just sit here and let them dry up in the sun when there are wake boards and skis to be abused. I hope you're all doing well and let me know if you're coming to the rivieras this summer. Cheers, Tim
Ancona, Italy

After a week of sunshine and hard work we have now got into the rain period. Tons of work here in the shipyard, but at the same time very interesting how it all works. I live in a rather big house with the captain about 20 minutes south of Ancona in a little town called Numana. It's a nice little town with a marina, tons of resturants, big night clubs, and our house have a view down over it all. I'll be stuck here for another 2 months before we are supposed to head over to the islands of Croatia and Greece. After that it will pobably continue to Sardinia, Corsica, and finally Monaco with shorter trips to Saint Tropez during the summer. Nothing is set yet and I guess it's all up to the owner to decide what weekend to spend a couple of millions. The yacht is very nice and the owner is thinking about building a new 68 meter (225 foot) beginning next year. The Italians are the same as always. Never work more than they have to, even with a strict timeline, vino and sambuca for lunch, but also fun as hell. No pics in this mail since I just haven't had the time to get around to it. I'm going to try to attach a file of the yacht, but I don't know if it will work or not. If not go to this site: http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/isa-y acht/928-review-rodriguez-group-isa-yac hts-156-italian-masterpiece.html Have a good one you all and talk to you soon again. Tim
I've been walking around to take some pictures on yachts and the beach is actually crowded. It's been a good week and hopefully the next will be even better. I'll have my exams on Thursday and Friday. Sunday next week I'll be heading to Ancona, Italy. It's finally decided what yacht I'll be working on and right now the captain is looking for a villa for the crew. I hope you're all doing well and I'll talk to you soon again. Tim
Antibes, France

The sun is shining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After a long winter back home the sun is finally here and around 20 degrees C (70 F). The course is a lot of fun and with a bunch of people from all over the world. 1 German, 1 French, 1 Aussie, 2 Kiwis, 1 Venezuelan, and me. It's a great old town with an amazing marina. There are a couple of the world's biggest yachts here at the moment and new ones are pulling in every day. Season is coming quickly. I don't have a lot of spare time to enjoy it fully, but the weekend is almost here. The weather forecast is saying 25 dergrees C (78 F) for Saturday and Sunday, so the beach is looking closer and closer. Photos will be updated after this weekend and I'll have more then. I'll have 10 days of school to get my global radio certificate and after that I'll be heading to either Ancona, Italy or Bombay, India. The yacht in Ancona is a 48 meters (155 feet) and the other one in Bombay is a 95 meters (320 feet) yacht. I won't find out until tomorrow or the next day which one it will be, but I'm sure it's going to be fun. The big one will leave Bombay in mid March to head over to Thailand where Bill Gates has rented it for a couple of weeks. Then straight to Monaco where the Tyota team has rented it for the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 Race. The one in Italy will be coming out of the yard in May and will be heading for Monaco as well. I hope you're all doing great and I'll send a new one as soon as I can. Cheers, Tim
