They saw the first time is always the best, as we finally got our first real snow (it actually snowed on Thanksgiving but we were in Atlanta) of the year. To tell the truth it was pretty exciting as we have been hearing about snow, cold and harsh winter since we got here and today it finally showed up. But for us it was more than that as it was new and exciting as neither of us have spent that much time in the snow. I am sure we will get sick of it at some point but for now we will just enjoy a new experience!P.S. It is actually starting to snow right now (Tuesday Dec 4) so I will put up some more pictures tomorrow!

A couple of people, mostly family, wanted some pictures of our new pad. Now I was going to do a video walk-through of the house but I am running out of time before Thanksgiving and some major construction they are going to do to our place right after Thanksgiving. (Basically they are ripping out our front windows, which is one wall of our living room, to replace some stuff, so we will lose half our place for about a week.) This is especially nice since the first snow of the season is expected on Thanksgiving!Well back to better things. I have quickly shot our house as best I can so everyone can see it before the come visit of course!

OK so we still might be somewhat restless as we are at our Chicago Place for like four days and have to go take a vacation to Maine. Actually we had planned the trip to see the changing of the leaves about a year ago, and were thrilled we could still make it out there. Plus if allowed us a couple of days of sleeping in a real bed, and eating home cooked meals. Overall it was a great trip and the perfect wind down before it got crazy again.

To keep things interesting and to avoid that restless feeling of finishing up our long trip, we decided to move to Chicago. Well it didn't quite happen like that. Actually Amy got a great job in the Midwest and since Chicago was on our top 5 (#5 to be exact) of places we would consider living in, we made the jump. Now we have had some interesting pack jobs in the past 20 months or so, but this one topped them all with us having to move to Chicago from two different locations, as we split our stuff between Seattle and Los Angeles for storage while we were gone.Here is a quick look at the Los Angeles Move and Chicago Arrival.

After leaving the Oregon Coast we got into familiar territory with Northern and Coastal California. So we decided to do the Best of California on the way back home. We stopped at Frank Family Winery in Napa for a case or so of great wine, after of course the free wine tasting. From there we headed to Berkeley to crash with Amy's Cousin and have some fantastic pizza. Than we headed down the coast stopping in Monterrey for a maple donut and down to the Madonna Inn. There we enjoyed Santa Cruz a little bit, before heading to a fantastic dinner at the Madonna in.We than headed into Solvang for wine tasting and great meal before arriving back in Los Angeles in time to meet up with my (Scott's) family for the annual Newport Beach vacation!

After a great stay in Washington State we headed back down Highway One through the Oregon Coast. The whole time down the coast the weather was great and we stayed ocean front to get the full effects of the coast and do a little decompression before returning home to re-enter society and work etc.So we took our time, enjoyed the days, bought some awesome art, and thought about our next steps. We even tried to go wine tasting in inland Oregon only to look around and head back out to the coast.

While we were in Washington State we had to jump up to the San Juan Islands for a couple of days on Chris and Karen's boat. So once again the weather was questionable, ie raining, windy and cold, in Seattle the day we took off, thus we got some rough waters that first day up the coast. But the rest of our time in the San Juan Islands was perfect with good weather, good food, and great family time.

We were on the move from Napa, California for Amy's girls weekend to Seattle, Washington to catch a ride over the border to the real Vancouver for the start of our Alaskan Cruise. But on our way we decided to take a preview of Vancouver by stopping in (and crashing at...we love a free night of room and board!) with Amy's friends Elise and Rich in Vancouver Washington.We had a fantastic home cooked dinner and watched 007 rip it up in their new cinema room. The stay was short, but paid big dividends as about a month and a half later Amy got a call from Elise about an opening at her Company, and bam I am writing this entry from Chicago!The following day we toured the Mount St. Helen area to be reminded how powerful nature can be and even more impactful on Amy's life, we visited her old college stomping grounds of UPS.

Our home away from home as we spent quite a bit of time up there with Amy's Mom and her husband Chris. Our first visit was for Fourth of July followed by a bunch of weeks after getting back from Alaska. It rained a lot, which I was told was unusual for Summer, but we still had a great time seeing family, friends, getting some rest, and some home cooked meals.
