Hendersonville, North Carolina, United States

So yesterday morning I woke up at 6 o clock and took a shower. As i was walking to the shower i saw a line of cars waiting at the gate, cars full of campers and crazy parents who had been in that queue since 5 oclock, bearing in mind the gates arent open until 8! When the gates did open all the flashy cars came zooming in, unloaded their kids and belongings upon us, and left!

The night before last was our last night of freedom until the first session ends so we all went into ashville. Its a really cute town and quite hippy.

The cabin i have is called Poplar Cabin and we have 11 children all aged 11, but they are such a nice bunch, the english accent over here is so amazing to all the little campers, they are constantly trying to mimic me so i apoloigsed to the parents in advance if their little angels go back with weird accents!

Yesterday we just chilled and got to know the campers and then in the evening we played some games and ate smores around the camp fire....i do not understand why smores arent a bigger thing in england they are soooooooo good!

I have also had to cut back on swearing alot and also saying words like hell and damn!

Suprisingly the camp songs arent that bad, no matter how they stick in your head day after day! I think its better now cause we all know the songs as thats all we've been singing day and night for the past 2 weeks!

I cant think what i have and havent mentioned, but last week was alot of hard work and i think all of us were feeling burnt out but im looking forward to putting what ive learned into practice!

Travelling afterwards i think im going to head down to miami with 4 others, Lauren from Essex, Rosie from Bristol and Sam and Tonia from South Africa. Then on the 16th of August im going to get a flight from Miami to Atlanta and spend a few days with him until the 19th when im going to fly back to England!

Anyway i gottta go for some breakfast so ill try and update this later in the week!

Hendersonville, North Carolina, United States

This place is amazing!

Ive been here like five days now and everyone is all welcoming and so bloody happy all the time! On my second day here i met everyone on the senior side of things. Theres this old lady called Eloise (Wheezy) and shes like 88 years old but she took me a tour of the camp and its huge! She put me to shame with her little legs ploughing away! Shes come to this camp every summer since 1943 and says it hasnt changed a bit and thats what she loves about it. Then theres Dave who works in the kitchen, i reckon hes about 50 odd but he always asks how i am and checks up on me. On the second day as there was no one else around i just chilled out and played with two alsations (sp?) called Kane and Sasha, they are mental, if i like pretend im going to throw a stick in the lake they'll sprint down the jetty and Kane will bark his head off until Sasha jumps in the lake! Then some of the american councellors arrived and they were all like "Lets jump in the lake ya'll"...and so i did...and it was SOOOOO COLD! The weather is really weird here, like apparently thety have officially been named with having a tropical climate, including the rainstorms!
On my third day and fourth me and another girl (most of the councellors had arrived by now) had to go to Camp Carolina which is the boys camp nearby.... I have never seen so many hot, muscly tanned Australians in my whole life!! We wen through the rifle course which was a bit boring but it got better on the second day. I got given a tshirt for being top student in the class! Then i managed to get a few photos of the camp before the next rain came along.

I am already having such a good time, i dont think ive included everything in this but it'll come back to me one day!!

Love x
Hendersonville, North Carolina, United States

...I have actually arrived in Parent Trap. Hayley ( a member of staff) picked me up at the airport and she was lovely, the weather is very stuffy at the moment and it was raining when i first got here but apparently thats the first of the rain we've had.
Had a quick tour around camp, obviously nothing is 5* but its everything i imagined it would be. I am the only councellor here there are a total of 10 people at the camp at the moment and all the others are senior members of staff! . Its a bit weird going to sleep in an empty cabin knowing there arent many people around and im kinda in the middle of no where!. Phone use is limited so i havent been able to call anyone but im fine and ill try and keep these blog things updated as often as i can. But for now im going to get some sleep, ill add some photos when i can.

Night x
London, England, United Kingdom

I wrote this in my notebook whilst sitting on the plane... Interesting flight as you can already tell!

"Im writing this as im sat on flight DL9, taking me to Atlanta, its 3.48 in England meaning its only 10.48 American time. Getting onto the plane was no problem, it all started as soon as i boarded. Waqlking down the aisle was a nightmare, fat americans standing in my way, I helped two people with their bags, not cause i was being nice i was just so frustrated i wanted to get to my seat! Then i arrived at my seat (this stroy is going somewhere) 41G only to find a man sitting in my seat, so being polite as i could possibly manage i told him to jog on. He then proudced a boarding pass identical to mine saying that his seat was also 41G! Being the optimist and not thinking i could be kicked off that flight, i just assumed id be moved to first class. Big disappointment when i wasnt but i was moved to a seat where there was no one sitting next to me.
So at this moment in time I am sat in seat 31A watching the Atlantic ocean pass underneath me feeling quite full after my suprisingly decent lunch.
Im not sure how long i have until landing in Atlanta as the television is playing Marley and Me, which is another reason why i am writing this as i refuse to let the whole of my row see me cry like a baby when Marley dies.
Suprisingly im not nervous, I think i will be when we land in Atlanta considering i have an hour to be grilled by customs, get my baggage, and board it again on another flight. Im also supposed to be being picked up by a camp director, and i havent heard anything about it apart from a general email send by the director to everyone saying there will be someone waiting at the airport for me!
I know ive written quite alot but as the summer goes on i probs wont have enough time to keep babbling on like this as i dont think i have that much free time but for the moment, Marley and Me is playing so i must keep focused on something else!"

Love x
Sheffield, England, United Kingdom

So many things to do!

Had an email of Callie Whitney the Programme Director at Camp Ton-A-Wandah, where I shall be spending ten weeks of my summer, asking me loads of questions about medical forms, things to do at camp things not to do at camp.... I just want to go for the sun :)

Had a preparation day on Saturday at Birmingham University, made me super excited for camp, but also made me realise that its going to be such a culture shock out there!
One good thing did come out it though, I learned that Walmart have a 90 day no questions asked refund policy...meaning I can buy whatever I want and just return it within 90 days to get a full refund!! Stereo system here I come!
However, it also made me realize that im probably not going to have much time to phone home or what not, because theres a strict no cell phone (mobile phone for us english) policy where they like the camp to feel natural and make sure we are "unplugged" from the world around us! Brilliant, a 21st century teen without a phone.... ipod... or computer! Hopefully theres internet access, well there pretty much has to be to function in society these days, but I doubt ill have the time to be using it! To be fair, the idea of not staying in on facebook or just dossing around all summer makes me feel alot better, cause theres nothing worse than wasting my days on staying inside and just watching the summer pass by!
I also have to sort out the really boring things such as what to pack, what documents I need, but im sure my mother will be all over that!

My plan after camp is a bit hazy at the moment, i might travel for a few days/weeks but i want to try and save my money so that I can come back and have another holiday of a lifetime in Ibiza! Im sure my choice will change over the summer, so watch this space!

If you want to hear about all my adventures then im thinking this might be the best way because I so will not be bothered to keep repeating my stories over and over again...that is until im 65 and then you'll never hear the end of "back in the day!"

I think you can leave like comments and stuff on this, but I thought I should set up the blog before I get going otherwise I wont have time to think!

Hopefully I shall see you all soon!

Love x

Follow this link to look at where I'll be staying over the summer - http://www.camptonawandah.com/
