Bucherest, Romania

Buna Zuia Bucheresti!
Romania just bet Czech in the soccer as we approached the border, so in their excitment we passed through swiftly with a smile.
Big, beautiful Bucherest. It was originally set up to model Paris, and some of the streets in Bucherest are beautiful, the communist areas, where particuarly elaborate, as money they didn't have was poured into the construction of huge buildings, includng one that is second only to the pentagon in size, as well as elaorate communist housing estates. I liked Bucherest, it was your average city, i like the hustle and bustle, and could live there easily. I got majorly lost exploring but i made it alive. It was such a huge constrast the the rest of Romania. I loved every second of Romania, even the not-so-special city, it had som much history and it was all so recent, intriguing, plus i got to thank the waiter in Romanian which he was chuffed with.
Sofia, Bulgaria

We headed to the Bulgarian capital Sofia via a few hours in Plovdiv. Sofia is quite a modern city, an odd mixture of old and new, beautiful and communist ugly. We had a nice tour, where the guards outside a government building did their changing ceremony early to show off, only to stuff it up and crack up laughing. Sofia was oddly cool, i rather enjoyed it but then again i feel no need to return to Sofia but perhaps a nice summer break in Varna next time. We left Bulgaria via a quick exploration of Veliko Tarnarvo before heading to the Romanian border.
