San Francisco, California, United States

Hi everone,

I have spent the last couple of days in San Francisco. It is fun - there is lots of things to do and see here.

First I explored the Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco where they have lots of historic, refurbished ships. You can go aboard three of them and so I did.

The boat you see is in the first picture is the Balclutha. This majestic boat is one of the few remaining square-riggers and it took it's maiden voyage from Cardiff, Wales in 1887. That's a long time ago! It was a cargo ship and it carried coal, lumber, wheat and canned salmon. It even appeared in the film 'Mutiny on the Bounty'.

I also toured the steam ferryboat Eureka built in 1890 and the 1907 ocean going tugboat Hercules.

I also got a chance to see the sea lions on Pier 39, the Golden Gate bridge (hidden a little bit by the mist) and Alcatraz.
