Canberra, Australia

So after 6 weeks in Sydney and not a particularly great time I remembered that im travelling! So time to travel. With my backpack loaded I engaged in a final night in Sydney involving a stupendous amount of drinking, The Davies, and The Proclaimers (I will walk 500 miles). 8am the following day I was driven 500kms (damn good thing too I was still pretty wasted) to Canberra.
Now everyone treats this place as if its Skegness - "Don't go its crap", "maybe a day or two", or point blank (and this was from Canberrans!) "Its shithouse mate". I love it. Take Milton Keynes and make it hot. Its clean, organsied, theres shade, fountains, museums all sorts! Nothing to do with all the female blonde governement workers wandering round in trouser suits who cann't really handle their beer... Hmmm trouser suits... If only they had a welsh accent theyd be my perfect woman!
War memorial was cool but best of the bunch had to be the new $1.1 billion parliment house. On entrance to the rather grand foyer the first thing i notice is the vast expanse of beautifully polished wooden flooring.... Bear with me ive not gone all woody honest.... After all of 3 seconds debate (with my own common sense) my new (and franky Beautiful) Etnies trainers are off and im sock surfing the length of the Great Hall. I musta done about 11m it was fantastic. I have never ever ever sock surfed such a distance! The tour guide and the rather boring germans on my tour were genuinely horrified, as were various government officials looking rather bemused. I think they thought i was high... which wouldnt be too hard as firstly weed is legalised (to buy smoke grow or whatever) in the capital. Also the top of the parliment building is covered in grass. It wouldnt be that hard to sly a few happy plants in there... no-one would notice... Given the state of their parliment i imagine someone already has... In any sense in true political style i agreed to stop sock surfing so long as the Germans took a picture of me. The tour guide simply felt the need to supply me with endless pamphlets on the sorts of woods used in the construction.... like i care.. i done 11m! Avvit!
Canberra is cool though. They have made a fantastic effort to make a city and its hard to belive that theres only 310,000 people here. Friday night composed of a country and westen style band who actually wore cowboy hats, said yeehaa and had buffalo horns on the drum kit. I thought it was a piss take... its actually how they really are. Better than that theres all these government guys in suits dancing away like theres no tomorow, and 17-24 year olds all loving it! Too many shandys I imagine. Oh and drinks. You cannt buy pints... its Schooners or sod all...
Paul: "Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps"
Barman:"No Pints only schooners"
Paul: "what the hell do i want with a medium sized fishing boat?"
anyway its cool but time to hit melbourne... supposedly my spiritual home...
PS On a footnote on my last day I returned to parliment to try sock surfing with different socks; The quantas flight socks... now the key is to get them inside out... i think i beat 11m... fan-bloody-tastic.
Kroombit, Australia

Kroombit is an outback cattle station... It is also the best form of contraception in the world...
First activity: Mustering goats on horse back. Initially I thought my horse was being a touch lazy. Then I thought she was being moody. Finally i concluded she must have been majorly hormonal. Perhaps menopausal. But anyway she was a royal pain in the arse. I had more control over the 4x4 on fraser and that was pretty non-existant. Sat on a bollock.
Second Activity: Catch a goat and "mock" brand it.... 27 seconds! I rock! Got headbutted by the little bastard in the nuts.
Third activity: Clay pidgeon shooting. Now 3 outa 5 is a pretty good score and joint best for the day. Disturbingly the terrorist looking blackman (I really should shave soon) and the IRA irishgirl were the winners. If it was a sawwn off shotgun and i was in a 7/11 it'd been 5 outta 5.
Fourth Activity: Lassoing. Was good! no damage to report! Cracking a whip was good also. Got backlashed in the jewels. Hmmm.
Fifth Activity: After some traditional beer/rum/food time for the mechanical bull. I wont go into the details but my testiculars ended up so high up they could be technicaly classed as ovaries. Singing like a choir boy.
Fraser Island, Australia

Fraser island is a sand/tropical and totally undeveloped island. Clambering aboard an antique Toyota Landcruiser 4x4 we intrepidly heade out... and what an Island!!! FOr once my driving wasnt the most probable cause of death as the the box jellyfish, randy tiger sharks, and the usual cast of crocs, snakes, scorps and sids. And lets nto forget dingoes... (wild pack dogs). Apparently if sighted on a night time "shovel trip (toilet)" one should throw away the shovel, cross your arms across your chest, scream "DINGO" and back clowly away... Armed with a shovel vs a pack of wild dogs that cannt distinguish between my legs and Pedigree Meatstix I have concluded that that is a monumentally stupid thing to attempt. My Version:
1) See Dingo
2) Hit Dingo
3) With Spade

Sod endagered species, id be pretty endangered if they ate me.

Driving on the Island is fun. Proper 4x4ing. Got stuck a few times and certianly alot of fish tailing. IVe never had so many obstacles to watch out for! Streams, deep sand, waves, otehr prat drivers, adn of course planes (beach=road=runway). Kinda sat on a bollock on a particularly large bump which was unpleasant.
