Trujillo, Peru

*dancing hippies from Cali
*Chan Chan and pyramid of the Sun and moon
*Party in the Plaza with 3 musicians, a Scientist from Berlin, Tim the Brit, a Bar owner and a not so Italian Peruvian
We take a night bus from Huaraz to Trujillo and arrive at 6:00AM like every bus stop that we have encountered there is a hoard of taxi cab drivers waiting at the gate pushing there hostel. The taxi cab drivers get a tip from hostels if they bring in guests. We met Tim a Brit in the same situation, so he asked if he could join us (Luke, Dominic,Me) Dominic is still traveling with us until we get to Piura. He is going to volunteer there for 2 months. We made it to our hostel after a long time looking. Casa de Clara is a nice homely hostel. They cook breakfast for you and lunch if you choose. It is run by a British man and his Peruvian wife. Tim spent most of his time sitting on the couch with the owner arguing politics and futbol. It was quite comical because most of the time they were sipping on tea. The hostel offered trips to Chan Chan pre-inca ruins that were interesting but not enough to carry on. I got good photos of there painting and how they constructed each layer of the pyramid one on top of the other. After the tour of Chan Chan the grouped returned to the hostel to have lunch. There was a group of Californians staying at the hostel with us. In preparation for lunch this group of about 8 went outside and began to wave their bodies rhythmically as if in a trans and hold hands in a circle. At first i thought they were going to do yoga stretches or something but that wasn't the case. They looked like groupies from a Panic concert on a crazy trip. i did everything to keep from laughing. It was very humorous.
There wasn't much to Trujillo the town was crammed with taxi cabs and they had a beautiful plaza de armas. While walking down the street we met
Huaraz, Peru

It was a nice stay in Lima. As i mentioned before it was nice staying with Cathy in Lima. It was nice having some one plug you into the social pipeline ha-ha.Well after trying to find the spirit of the Peruvian Culture in the discotecas we had to catch our bus at 9:00 in the morning. Leaving the Club at 6:00am didn't make for an eventful 14 hour bus ride. Left and headed to Huarzas, a city about 10,000ft in the Andes. Now what i went through these next couple of day i don't wish upon my closest enemy (of which i really don't have any). It might sound like it was a bad week in Huaraz it wasnt, i had an incredible time. Well thought it would be a bright idea to take up mountain biking. So we sign up for a nice excursion around the city. The agency said it would be facil/easy. Me being invincible and all i was like no problem. The route was beautiful accept for the 6 hours up hill and and easy 2 hour glide home. The ride it self was painful but the views were beautiful. High cascading mountain peaks of the Cordillera Blanca with moving glaciers and packs of hill side dogs chasing you through the country side. Which was helpful at times; its amazing what kind of energy you find when you have dogs snipping at your heels or prancing across a field with a vicious rage. So i made it through this day with some sore muscles and a few good stories. We rested a day and then took a hike to the top of one of the Glacier Peaks Vallanaruja. It was a two day hike beautiful glacier lagoon and valley. We hiked to the base camp day one at 4900meters or about 16,100 Ft the hike there was pretty intense but fun. The next day we were to use ice axes and crampons to finish the hike. That evening i got hit with a ton of bricks Altitude sickness tunnel vision, headache and upset stomach. I told the group to go on so they could finish the hike so i didn't reach the summit at18,900ft . Either way it was a great trip. Luke, Dominique (lukes Brother) and I spoiled our self with a 1 hr full body massage for about $12; Boy that was nice. Well I am hoping to get better on the coast. Next stop Trujillo, Peru I don't think i will have a problem with the coast. The City is about to start the spring festivals so muchos Fiestas, Go big or Go Home!!!!!
Lima, Peru

Well we made it into Lima but it was a grueling flight from Fort Lauderdale to Bogota Columbia to Lima, Peru. Upon entering the bustling city there was a private taxi waiting for us with Luke's name on a sign. We arrived at 4 in the morning and had no clue what we were going to do considering most of our plans consisted of we will figure it out. None the less Luke had a friend of his brother that lives in Lima set it up for us and let us stay at her place for four days.
I wasn't impressed by Lima but it did have some interesting things to offer. The town it self was very similar to Mexico city crazy drivers and enough smog to choke a donkey. I wont get to far into details only because i am starting this blog a month into my travels and i really need to catch up to today which is 10/9/08. So here is a quick synopsis of what went on in Lima:
*Took a two story bus to check the sites of historical Miraflores in Lima.
*Went to some ruins outside of Lima in a cab had our own personal tour guide for 3$ which made the trip worth it. The ruins pretty much looked like a mound of dirt with some building around it.
*Check out a potato exhibit in National Museum of Peru. Did u know there is over 5000 species of potatoes in Peru they love that dam root down here. It reminded me of work the last two years making chips.
* Hit the discotecas up. the Party itself was sponsored by cotex weird i thought and no they didn't give free tampons as far as i know. We went with Cathy the girl we were staying with. We partied until 6:00 in the morning dancing and acting a fool. I would have to say it was a horrible idea because we had to catch a bus the following morning at 8:00 in the morning.
