Vancouver, Canada

We met Jodi at the airport, and have been enjoying Canada very much. We've been up to Whistler, and around town a bit with her and Neil, and have even started cheering for the Canucks.

*megs later comments
seeing that red and white flag was very comforting....
we saw tim hortons and knew we were home.
we had an excellent time with neil and jodie, they put us up in they're pretty little condo and showed us all around. HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY. we watched our fair share and ate alot of yummy panigo pizza. we also visited dan and sarah, it's nice to see familiar faces.
whistler was pretty and we got our one day of winter taken care of, we took a few drives through the beautiful rainy city. canada's a nice place.
The snorkelling is incredible.

*megs later comments
kev over-emphasised about the snorkelling, its not that great at all...its ok.
it was a nice break though. if you're looking for the moon parties its the place to go. in the check in book at our guest house it is written that you can buy weed and mushrooms from the guest house and it is safe to do them on the premisis.
if you're looking for chilling out on a nice beach and diving, go to koh tao. in retrospect we should have just gone to koph tao, the beaches were nicer, and at the time we wern't looking for diving but if we had been it was the place to go.
The scenery would've been alot better, had all the farmers not been praticing slash and burn agriculture right now. The air is full of smoke, We couldn't see the next mountains across the valley all the way up here. Hopefully they'll stop this practice soon, before their fields erode into the Mekong.
Tanah Rata, Malaysia

We got up to Tanah Rata yesterday, a beautiful town in the Cameron Highlands, surrounded by jungle and tea plantations. We spent the day today touring the area, and hanging out with the locals, eating cassava, shooting blowdarts, and looking at giant spiders.

*megs later comments
the cameron highlands is literally a breath of fresh air. it's elevation makes it almost chilly, the scenery is beautiful and green as far as the eye can see. the food is also very good. we went on a jungle tour, it was really interesting. the tea tour was excellent aswell, and eventualluy we ended up in an Orang Asli villiage learning about their way of life. the 4 foot cheif took us in and entertained us, and we had fun with the blow darts. kevin was the best shot. Malaysia has alot to offer. kev went to another doc, who also seemed to thing nothing was wrong with him....useless.
Tomorrow we'll take the train to Kuala Lumpur, and work our way north from there.

*megs later comments
it was like a breath of fresh air. people were helpful, they spoke english, everything was well marked and very clean. its an incredebly easy city, the public transit makes so much sense and the meridian had a bath tub....a very clean nice warm bubbly bath tub. ahhhh....
we indulged in the finest foods that little india had to offer. they were hosing the restaurant down from top to bottom when we arrived...atleast it was clean.
although it is an easy clean city it has very little to offer. we went on a "hop on hop off" bus tour, that took us from shopping mall to hotel and back again...shop shop shop. that's all there is. and it's not any cheaper than at home.
the highlights included the dried pigs in the chinese market, and SENTOSA ISLAND! very disney-like a fantasy type wonderland island. fun fun fun for the whole family. from the trippy fountain to the sound and light show, we explored and rememered always that "it's our world".
