Gaunzhou, China

it has been a long time since i have travelled to china..few months.it was my first tour to gaunzhou for visiting a trade fair which was quite boring to me. so i spent lot of time surfing the streets of gaunzhou and irritating the chinese traders.
i visited lots of wholesale international markets for leather, jeans, accesories.
they are jam packed with local chinese shop keepers and european traders.
they were not willing to entertain a client like me for a single piece or two.still i would pose as a wholesale buyer and take a few samples.i had few business cards of people i met in the indian restaurant who had beeen dealing with the chinese people,so they had their card in both the languages.that was my advantage .as i was zero at chinese language..the hotel taste of india had their business card specially designed for tourists.bread, butter, main street names,veg-,non-veg,airport etc.few basic words translated in chinese so we only had to show them the chinese word .otherwise you are like lost on planet earth with only chinese around.
after visiting the trade fair we ventured out to see gaunzhou by night,it has a very beautiful river..u can see it in the photos we booked premium seats for the luxury boat ride on the upper deck..but it was of no use all the locals from the local deck also came up to enjoy the view and sip the green chinese tea which was served continuously.the boats were lit very beautifully and the commercial biuildings and the hotels were also a sight to look at.if we are fond of chinese nonveg you could dine on the boat..but we were veg, and they dont understand the concept of veg meals as they eat all kinds living creatures.
what all i ate on my tour was few meals at indian restaurant which was quite far off.
and in the room we just boiled noodles with lots of veggies and salt and pepper,
chunks of pineapple, boiled corn, sweet -potato i managed at the shopping mall, and slices of water-melon...after few days i didnt want to look at noodles,i would rather remain hungry...but then again out of no choice eat the same.
It was clad with ice even in the summer...the way was made with ice cleaned from the steps.it was a picturesque sight,it was difficult to reach the lingam as it was very very slippery and ice cold water in the feet as well as falling from top.

out of the world sight.see the photos on a large screen to enjoy the beauty...
Manali, India

there were lot of opinions on the time to depart for rohtang...we chose the as early as possible.
we started at dawn ..as our jeep was reaching the height..i was soaking into the beautiful himachal.
photos are best visible in full screen mode...
we reached a commercial point where all general public would stop take a few rides and go back ...i was disappointed at the sight of it?on inquiry they told me the vehicles of the taxi-drivers will take us to the actual rohtang pass and if our drivers dare go they either damge the vehicle or if vehicle is stuck in the water nobody would help.i knew it was a tourist gimmick to get more money out of us
.since we didnt have a choice in with the unions we boarded in the sumo with few more thousands and reached rohtang .it was a memorable drive.the same road goes to ladakh...
400 kms. more.several treks also begin from here a month later..all ice melts and the mountains are covered with flowers.
any way after we reached we had to extract few more thusands ..for those picturesque ride
to see the faroff chandrataal and vashshtha peak .the peak was covered with ice and there were ice scooters imported from newzealand giving us 20 min.ride adventurously.
the cost was one way mumbai-delhi by flight.
after we reached evry penny was worth spending ,
i even sent my children to experience the zero population-pollution beauty of the himachal.it seemed that was the border of the himachal pradesh.
on our way back we saw heavy traffic jam..people would never reach the peak before closing time
we thanked our stars for starting early.
