Walt Disney World on a Couple Dimes

        Orlando, Florida, United States

Pre-planning for the Disney Trip is almost done. The biggest expense is, of course, the hotel, at about $1,200 for 7 nights. So with a small budget for the trip of approximately $2,000 I wasn't sure if the trip was a possibility for me. However, luckily with the help of all the online tools Walt Disney offers, I managed to work out a plan.
I purchased a Park Hopper Pass, that will get me to all the parks for approximately $250 dollars. What is great about the park pass, is that it allows for jumping from one park to another in the same day. So, if you are at Animal Kingdom and you get rained on you can move to another park for the remainder of the day and not waste an entire days fun at an amusement park.
Also, online I found information about Fast Passes for rides, they are free it is just a matter of getting there before the attraction runs out of fast passes. Another great tool I found online, was park maps and information regarding the shows, and rides, and restaurant choices. I actually found menus online, so I can better plan for when I chose to eat lunch, I can eat somewhere a bit less expensive than another place.
Another great offer was Disney's Magical Express. This is a free service that will pick you up from the airport and take you back to the airport. It also takes you from park to park. This is great for people who don't want to have to deal with renting a car and finding their way around the Disney Complex.
One other thing I want to mention for those of you who may be planning a trip to Disney World is staying at a Disney resort. There are three price levels at the resorts, Budget, Moderate, and Luxury. The resorts are nice, because they offer travel between the parks. Also, there are certain days parks open an hour early, BUT ONLY for those guests staying in the Disney Resorts. Each resort has its own entertainment and eating areas, and persons on a budget may see that as a way to save money during their vacation.
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States

One of the places we visited while we were in Whyoming was Jackson Hole. Jackson Hole is well known for its expensive shopping and eating places. We thought that those establishments were all that was there, then as we were leaving we actually found the reasonable priced side of town. Yellowstone was just beautiful! I really enjoyed that experience. However, if I were to ever go again I would go at a later time in the summer. Early June is just still too cold to really enjoy the experience. We saw many animals while we were there, we even got farily close to a black bear. My crazy brother got closer than I would have dared! SCARE! Luckily the bear was content to just munch on what he had. The Sulpher Springs were pleasant to look at but could really not make up for the smell! The smell was TERRIBLE! The smoking steps were awesome and so were the steaming stones. I really wasn't very impressed with Old Faithful. It was okay I guess. What was most impressive were the waterfall veiws and the river views just beautiful!
Window Rock, Arizona, United States

The Education department at JBU teamed with the youth and college and carreer groups with my church and went on a mission trip to the Navajo Reservation. While we were there we cleaned up the reservation school area and we taught lessons to the students who were there for the summer academy program. Even though we were there to work we made sure we had time for some fun. We visitied Canyon Chene (Du-shay) in New Mexico, then we went to Window Rock, Arizona and climbed the mountains there. We also had the opportunity to stop by an open market and purchase jewelry and pottery. Window Rock is sacred and people are not supposed to climb it, however, there were certain members of the group who did climb it afterall. I climbed the other rock formations, I didn't want to tred on sacred land!

DISCLAIMER:
While traveling up that mountain, I found my name already scratched into the rock, I would never deface private or public property in that way. But since it was there, I had to get a picture!
Ocala, Florida, United States

Wow! Flordia during Spring Break, you must have had a wild time! You might be thinking, but that was not my trip at all. I went to a small Christian college in Siloam Springs, AR. This was our mission trip. We traveled to Flordia to be a part of a Habitat for Humanity team. In case you aren't familiar with the program, Habitat for Humanity is an organization whose purpose is to assit people in getting a home, who would otherwise be unable to purchase a home. So, our main purpose of going to Flordia was to be a part of this wonderful program. We stayed at a campsite in Oklawaha, FL. It was really pretty nice, we had our own cabins, the mess hall was huge and there was a beautiful lake right in the middle of the camp. It was a very tranquil place. We were excited because the weather in AR was in the 50s still and here in FL it was in the 80s.

We mostly worked on two homes. My team did the insulation and ground work. The other team did the rooftops mostly. It was really nice to know that we were giving back to those in need.

Well, you must be thinking that with all that work there was no time for play, oh contrar, there was definately playtime. We visited one of the family members of one of our teammates. While we checked out her gorgeous victorian home we also got to go down to the peir and see alligators up close and personal! Did you know that their eyes glow red in the nighttime! We also went to Daytona Beach one day and spent the entire day, playing in the sand, playing in the ocean, and shopping!
