The end has come..the last 13 months have been awesome. The words that come to mind are freedom, adventure, peace, fun...It was a journey to far away places, new ones and known ones but mostly into ourselves. It sounds esoteric, but it's true. Being unattached and living in the present is true happiness.And even though we know that we are lucky in the sense that we could afford to do so, there's no excuse for anyone. Money means nothing really and a journey likes this transcends it all. We met people who spent close to nothing and worked along the way so if there's a will there's a way. For our part, we are happy we have made this decision since it made us be who we want to be.Having met so many great people we are inspired to try new things.I have started my Yoga Teacher Training Certificate last week and I will go from there....

Its weird to be back in NYC ... over a year ago we left and now we're back but in a completely different mind set which is good. Visiting NYC is definitely better than participating in the rat race...or maybe it was just us...either or, we're glad that the trip opened our eyes and we found peace inside of us. Let's hope it stays that way being back in the real world where people still have to make some money :)NYC and mostly Bklyn was great..we hit our favorite spots and saw our favorite people.

Duesseldorf, Germany

Duesseldorf has been our headquarters for over 2.5 months now, going back and forth, and it's been wonderful staying in my old hometown with family and friends....and now it's time to say goodbye before we head back to the USA.

Hamburg, Germany

From Berlin we headed to Hamburg in 1.25 hours with the great Deutsche Bahn. We start feeling like beer drinking parasites going from one friend's house to another..but wee keep moving...this time we're back with our friends who also hosted us in Croatia - Jan & Daniel - and my sis Eva. Hamburg is so different from Berlin...Hamburg is clean and beautiful where Berlin is rough and edgy, Hamburg is very chick where Berlin is hip...many contrasts.But we are ready for some scenic bicycle rides along the many canals (apparently Hamburg has more canals than Venice) and good dinners with our friends.

Berlin, Germany

We love Berlin...the city that changes faster than the S-Bahn goes, where artists can live in nicer apartments than most people I know in NYC and food is incredible cheap, where you can live out the free-spirit in you and experience German hospitality every day of the week even if it's just a beer on someone's balcony.Berlin feels like home...maybe because of all my friends who moved there and never want to leave.We came to explore and to spend quality time with old friends...one week or 50 beers later we feel 10 years younger and reconnected.If you ever head this way, check out Club der Visionaere, Heinz Minki Biergarten, Hasir Restaurant (http://www.hasir.de/) for the best Doener and the flea market on Boxhagener Platz & Mauerpark.

Cavtat, Croatia

We spent a week in beautiful Cavtat, a little town in the South of Croatia.We had been invited to celebrate Daniel's 30th B-Day at his family House and it just so happened that Nate's birthday was the same week.It was great spending time with good friends, barbecuing Calamares and Cevapcici and exploring the wild nightlife of Dubrovnik (just kidding). Most of all the ocean was amazing, crystal clear best jumped into from the many rocks.

Antigua Guatemala, Western Highlands, Guatemala

It happened again! In the mini-bus to Antigua we got robbed..not by locals, but fellow backpackers. What a scandal. The weird German guy and his Japanese friend were obviously on a tight budget since their food supply consisted of a Cornflakes box only...and when we took a brake they dared to take $40 out of Nathan's backpack. Upset and confused we noticed it right away, but didn't confront the thieves...we still don't know why. We figured that the bad Karma was punishment enough.The day got better when we arrived in beautiful Antigua. The most stunning Colonial City so far.Best of all, we would have a free place to stay...Mareike, a friend of a friend, was so kind&nbsp; to let us stay at her beautiful home while she was away in Germany. How nice...a home for us nomads where we could cook and hang in the garden. <i>10-23-07After about 3 weeks in Antigua we have gotten used to the amenities of such a westernized town where you can buy Croissants, eat great Italian food and even Sushi. It's been nice not to wear our jungle pants and living a "normal" life. But it's coming to an end and we will leave our little temporary home by the end of the week. But as always in life, it's about a balance, so we are actually looking forward to traveling again.Thanks Mareike for your hospitality and thanks Antigua for making us fat again :)
