Dubois, Wyoming, United States

Left Sturgis and Sheldon at about 9:30a.m.. He remembered to wish me Happy Birthday. Left on my own, aiming in the direction of Jackson Hole.
Beautiful, hot day. At about 2p.m. realized I was getting very burnt. Temp today 96F. Great roads. Lots of bikes. Travelled to Buffalo, Worland....
In Thermopolis ran into winds that were making my bike dip and weave like the birds. A bit of rain that felt like needles. Solution....speed up and race and rain. Turns out that was a good choice, as there were tornado warnings in the area.
Got to Dubois at about 6:30 p.m. Had hoped to continue through the mountain pass, but the locals advised against it. Lots of road construction and they said it was taking up to 3 hours to travel the next 30 miles. So, registered at the local KOA campground, and joined some bikers I had met in the bathroom at a gas station in Buffalo. (Yes, you make friends in strange places).
Corwin Springs, Montana, United States

Got up early to hit the road. 10 miles of construction in a 30 mile stretch of road. 5 different areas with pilot vehicles. So lots of waiting and slow driving. Luckily it isn't too hot today.
Through the Grand Teton Mountain Range and into Jackson Hole. What a community. Incredible art gallerys. Stores for the stars.......jeans for $200, shirts for $260.....Organic restaurants......Water for $2.00 (.86 cents in Buffalo). However, a very scenic friendly community.
Lost my bike.......found it on another street. (glad I didn't call the police)
Travelled through Yellowstone - saw Old Faithful, but it isn't very faithful anymore and doesn't shoot very high.
Saw lots of elk, but no Buffalo this year.
No camping left in Yellowstone. No camping left at Gardiner. Travelled to a little free campground 10 miles out of Gardiner.
Met Niva the BMX Diva. She is 9 years old and just competed in the World Championship BMX races in BC. She and her parents have been travelling since May around the states competing. She showed me her bike and helped oil my chain. I told her that I wanted to camp in Yellowstone, but didn't get too, haven't eaten and it's to late to go anywhere. Neva shared her chocolate pudding with me and then brought me two bottles of water and two peanut butter and jam sandwitches --- supper and breakfast. She's a sweety and I suspect will achieve the same status her idol - Sammy. Neva also has a pet rabbit named Hutch.
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada

Left Malta at about 8:30 a.m. A very uneventful ride. Crossed the border with only a few questions from the border guard. He didn't even check my bags...didn't take my ID into the office....didn't ask if I've ever been arrested.
Weather not warm, but not too cool given I have an electric heated vest. At Rosetown, it appeared that it would rain so switched to my full-face helmet. No rain until after I arrived in Prince Albert.

In all, an excellent adventure. 3,855 kms trip.
Malta, Montana, United States

Left camp early and travelled to Great Falls. Lots of sales, great store, but I could only strap so much on the bike....like about 2 pounds more or even less. Today is a perfect day for travelling. Temp in mid 80's, road speeds at about 75 mph. Nice scenery. Meeting lots of interesting people at gas stations (okay, I spend lots of time in gas stations. A new one every 160 kms or about). Stayed at Malta tonight. Nice campsite, with a train about 100 yards away. I think a train went on every hour. But after spending some time in the pool and hot tub the previous night, I still had a good sleep.
Sturgis, South Dakota, United States

Started the morning with thunder and forecast of rain. Decided to take a different route - through Saskatoon, not Melfort. Sheldon and I left at 7:30a.m.
When we got to Saskatoon, decided to check out the new casino. After a 30 hr. off the main highway, through road construction, gravel, bumps, etc. arrived at the casino which will open on August 10. This added an hour to the trip.
Passed through the border without incident...now in the states with 75mph roads. Just into South Dakota, met Corey (works at Mobile Crisis) and his wife Jamie (has a mental health care home). They were also on their way to Sturgis and will be staying in the same campground.
Missed all the rain, but kept coming to very wet roads, saw incredible lightening, lots of antelope on the sides of the road (scary during the night). Corey saw a snake---snaking down the highway. Arrived tired but alive at 11:30p.m.
