Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, Korea Rep.

As I was trudging along sleepily, I realized how Korean tours are different. Even the first day, we were constantly walking up and down mountains. First we went to Mt. Fortress Wall (Bu Soo Sansung), then Seo Heae Bridge, then Mt. Yu-Dal. Even the elderly couple was walking up the hill with enough ease that I would feeled embbarrased to complain about the walking.

The second day, we went to Soo Sae Won Garden full with different bamboo types. I saw how an edible winter bamboo shoot only took days to grow. We walked around Gwang Han Ru with Chunyang's memorial. We then ended up in Mt. Jiri where there was a buddhist temple. After visiting the compounds, we were told to wait 45 minutes. By that time, it was raining cats and dogs. All of our raingear was wet. Thank goodness I came fully equipped with a poncho, umbrella, and waterproof clothes. Learned from past traveling. So some of the kids (which included Min and I) decided to walk barefoot around the temple compounds for half an hour. After that, I took one of my infamous micro naps and woke up with drool on my poncho. The drumming ceremony was exciting to see these monks do their stuff. Everyone had a different rhythm.

We ate at a most original restaurant who serves its own plants.
Seoul, Korea Rep.

All I have to say is that Korean Air has the biggest individual screens I've ever seen. I felt like my nearsightedness was worsening during the 12 hour trip with the screen not more than one foot in front of my face. Not that it stopped me from watching 4.5 movies and getting a big headache. That combined with sitting in the middle seat (did I really forget to get a window seat?), I was pretty knocked out the next day. But that is the benefit of being on a bus tour- there is plenty of time to sleep on the bus while they drive you from point A to point B. I met up with my Korean contact at Incheon and we drove the hour to Gimpo Airport. I slept across 2 rows and got one hour of quality sleep. There we waited for the rest of the group, including Min and her mother who were waiting in a different section of Gimpo Airport. Incheon Airport had a food court with lots of choices. There was also a water dispenser and sterilized metal cups/utensils for general use.

4 hours after I landed, the entire tour group of 9 united and was off.
Delphi, Greece

Taking one of the most ancient footpaths in the world. Just the way the worshippers of Pan used to walk. Seeing Mt. Parnassos in the distance. Relaxing up at the lookout above Delphi. And descening upon the ancient ruins of Delphi at the end. Where's E4? Took a taxi up to the entrance and used the thumb with a lady and a dog for a quick lift toward the entrance before hiking the 8 hours down.
Most notable was our stay in Santorini. Also rented a car and toured around the island, red rocks, Akoriti, and the very picturesque Oia with its Don Quijote-esque windmills.
Thessaloniki, Greece

I am always in search of thick hot chocolate drinks. The kind of viscosity that when your hand leaves the spoon, it'll be able to stand straight up in your cup of hot chocolate. I had been spoiled in Ohrid, Macedonia and various other parts of Eastern Europe. And I searched high and wide for the same in Greece. Not very successful. I tried a cup of hot chocolate in every cafe we came across until I was choking in chocolate. I even tried to specify the order in Greek. Enunciating the word for viscous, "pahirefsti" (which I cannot write in Greek cause the first thre eletters were pi, alpha, chi...) I had one appropriately done cup in Thessaloniki's harborfront Havana Cafe. Quite dissapointed.
