Lahaina, Hawaii, United States

So after my AMAZING 4 hour walk, it was time to wash up and get back to the aiport.

So I do, I pick up my aunt and uncle, and we are picked up by the car rental place. We get the most ghett-tastic car ever (I need to take pics), complete with peeling paint and busted seats that show the cushion. But who cares? It was $150 for the WHOLE WEEK! That's half the price of every place else. And LeMaires dont need to ride in style.

So once we get our pimpin ride, we drop by Foodland again and get some AWESOME fresh fish, and a lot of drank. Apparently, my uncle, in the classic Cajun fashion, loves him some drank.

I pick up some drank of my own. A toasted coconut lager. YUM! Not on my diet, but I only drank half ;) Then we get to the resort, go for a dip in the ocean and then for a dip in the pool. This is where it hits me extra hard that my shoulders are some disabled fools. I could barely swim, but I'll work on that over the next two weeks.

The nonk and tante went out for pizza but I stayed in and had a half bread sammich. Yum! And now, time for sleep.
Wailuku, Hawaii, United States

Next morning, I woke up and went looking for a gym. No dice. Then I looked for fresh fruit, no dice. So I asked my iPhone "Where can I find a Bank of America?" and it told me I could find one 2.1 miles away uphill in a town called Wailuku. Perfect!

So I get there and it wasn't a BofA so then I looked for a fruit stand. The "organic fruit stand" ended up being someone's house. haha. But the walk was awesome! I got to see a bunch of locals who were nothing but NICE! Everyone wanted to say hello or good morning and wave. This 4 hour walk into a small town and back down to the "hotel" has been my favorite part of the trip so far.

On the way back, I had espresso and 2 baby bananas for breakfast.

Too bad I just ruined it with some chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Murrrrr!
Kahului, Hawaii, United States

This trip started a few months ago when my uncle posted a bulletin on MySpace offering a nearly free trip to Hawaii "Pay for your airfare and 1/3rd of the rental car and Hawaii can be yours." HELL YEAH! Done and done. I booked a ticket to arrive the day before he got there so I could settle in and then meet he and my aunt at the airport.

I've always wanted to fly somewhere far away with no reservations and somehow manage. And that's exactly what I did in Maui. I flew into OGG (LFT -> IAH -> LAX -> OGG), asked the desk person to recommend a few places and I decided on the one that offered a free shuttle, poodoo ass Maui Beach Hotel. I had $35 cash to my name (the rest of my cash was stuck in an account to which I lost my ATM card) but that was enough to take out $20 to tip the guy to and from the airport. The room was $120 a night, which was a bit excessive for how ghetto it was, but c'est la vie.

I checked in and asked where I should eat. The gentleman offered a few non-appetiziing places so I decided to walk around and I came across a local grocery store, Foodland. I know that some of the most authentic Cajun food can be found in grocery stores so I figured I could find some authentic Hawaiian food at Foodland and sure enough. I picked up some Kulua pork with cabbage, a sushi seafood wrap, lomilimi salmon salad and pineapples! I liked it well enough. Then I went back to Ghettoland Maui Beach Hotel (which was nowhere near a beach) and retired for the night. It was about 8 Hawaiian time but that's about my bed time here -- I have to keep the same hours I do in Louisiana because I'm working from here so....... Night!
