Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia

We spend 2 nights at the Mermaid Sands Holiday Apartments at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, this was an amzing bargain, we paid only AU$ 89 per night for a bedroom deluxe apartment, that is about SGD 116, which was an absolute bargain. Air conditioned with a swimming pool, about 150 meters to the beach. It was not quieter as we would have wanted but very pleasant. We had that hotel arranged at the very last minute to get a very good offer through Australia Hotels Last Minute and found that with the other Surfers Paradise Hotels and it worked just fine. The apartments was very comfortable and the staff were great in suggesting about getting around. We decided on a car rental for the last couple of days but took the shuttle transfer again back to Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta. We went to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and alsoByron Bay, where I am sure we will stay next time we visit the Gold Coast for a holiday
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia

We decided to overnight at a hotel at Kuala Lumpur Airport as we wanted to see some friends in Kuala Lumpur but had a very early flight next morning. We were tired after the flight from Gold Coast but it worked out well staying at the Concorde Inn hotel which is a cheap hotel at Kuala Lumpur Airport, as we had done before, the rates was cheap and the Concorde Inn is an ideal inexpensive hotel, much cheaper than the Pan Pacific hotel which is at Kuala Lumpur Airport, arranged with Kuala Lumpur Airport Hotels and the Concorde Inn hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the airport terminal at Kuala Lumpur. We used that also to get the KL Airport Express to and from downtown Kuala Lumpur.
Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia

You can travel up and down the Gold Coast easily, you can take a taxi or rent a car but it is very easy to use the Shullte Bus Services along the Gold Coast, we used Surfside Transfer Services which were reliable, comfortable, friendly and cheap. We stayed at the Watermark Hotel Gold Coast which was quite reasonable, it cost about AU$ 155 a night and we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was nice. We used Gold Coast Hotels foir the discount offer. It was easy to walk to other parts of Surfers Paradise. It was nice but very busy and the hotels are so large. We were glad we had booked 3 nights as we wanted something different after that but in the same holiday area of the Australian Gold Coast
Hua Hin, Thailand

We drove into Hua Hin town about 7 pm, parked near the main temple and then walked down to the Fishing Pier area which is full of restaurants, small shops. The sois are not traffic free but for the most part they almost are, so you can walk around easily. We had great already had seafood so did not want the same again, so we went for a meal at Monsoon Restaurant, this is almost Vietnamese in style and they had some really nice fusian Asian dishes. Service was good and friendly. There is a very good choice of restaurants in Hua Hin. We walked up to the area round the Hua Hin Hilton as there is a good place to buy Mango and Sticky Rice along the street.
After our meal we walk to the Hua Hin night market and bought a few things. We then walked back down near the Hilton to see the small show near there, good fun and quite cheap. About 11 pm we headed back towards Hua Don Beach at Khao Takiab and went to the Sasi Bar near the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin for late drinks and some music. The band was good and we eventualy got back to our bungalow about 11.30 pm. We sat in the garden for a while and chatted, it was quite cool but still warm. We thought about a beach walk but were too tired, so off to a good night sleep after a long day.
Phuket, Thailand

Arriving in Patong Beach on Phuket it was crowded, seemed packed with tourists, glad to get to our hotel which was the Club Andaman. Sad to see that shops have been built where the lovely gardens down to the beach road used to be. Patong Beach and elsewhere on Phuket was much busier than normal for this time of the year. There seem to be more bars, clubs and restaurants than ever before. Very different from even just a few years ago. However it was in a way fun that it was busy and there was certainly plenty to see and do and many new places in Patong to visit.
Our room was in the main building, service was alright and the room seemed very similar to when we had been to the Club Andaman before. It was full I think, again lots of tourists there and many quite nosiy. We went for a walk down to the beach road, it was again, crowded and very loud. There was a new Rock City Club opened along the new buildings which of course used to be a quieter area. We paid 1,800 Baht per night including breakfast, tax and service charge which was a good rate for Club Andaman.
