Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

I spent 5 nights in Vegas working for 3 different hotels in the area including Aliante Palace Hotel, which was very impressive (it had just opened a month prior). On Wednesday, there was historical snowfall on the strip of 3-4 inches, which hadn't happened in over 30 years! On Thursday night, I went out with another trainer that I was also in Vegas, to see some nightlife. So, we headed out to the House of Blues for dinner (in the Mandalay Bay Resort) before throwing away some money on the slot machines. I only had $12.00 to spend on the slots, so we hung out at the penny slots. Not much luck at Mandalay, so we then headed to Luxor, where, after placing in my final $2.00 bet, I won $32.00! Not bad for a penny slot!
Atlanta, Georgia, United States

It's always a treat when I can train with another trainer at a site. I trained Delphi Diagrams where my co-worker Erik was observing so that he could later train it himself. This site was fun as were there over halloween where a lot of staff dressed up in costume including Erik, who lives in Atlanta. The night prior to Halloween, Erik was a perfect tour guide as we went walking along the Chattahootchee River (? I think that was the name), ate at a local Indian Restaurant and drove around the neighborhoods. Thanks Erik!
Broomfield, Colorado, United States

Had a very nice time here. The hotel that I stayed at (Renaissance Broomfield Suites) was labeled as the # 1 hotel in the Renaissance Brand for 2007/2008 and I could certainly see why. Beautiful lobby, excellent guest service and the food was fantastic.

While I was here, I also went geocaching and dropped off a travelbug - Hope you get picked up soon, Mr. Froggy!
Mount Kisko, New York, United States

Had a little change of pace training at the Grand Prix New York. It was all men in a race car environment. Too bad I was in the middle of head cold. I walked in the door the first morning with a box of tissue, cold medicine and Germ-x washless soap. However, by the last day of training, I was feeling much better. Hope I didn't pass it on to anyone else!
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

This was my first time in Vancouver and hopefully it won't be my last. The hotel gave me a suite on the top floor (20 some stories up) and I got a magnificent view of the city. The staff that I trained were very friendly and I loved walking around the town - quite an eclectic bunch of people with lots of flavor. On Saturday, prior to taking the train to Seattle, I was able to visit Stanley Park, which is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Even though its near the city, you truly feel as you walk their many trails that you're in a remote area. I saw lots of animals including a mother squirrel with her baby, geese, a skunk, an otter, birds (including baby birds) to name a few. I've never been to the northwest before, so it was interesting to see how different the trees are from the southeast. I also visited Brockton Point in Stanley Park to view all the totem poles. I remember making totem poles in elementary school and these were the first 'real' totem poles I had ever seen.Later Saturday evening, I hopped on my first Amtrak experience to travel to Seattle. It was strange not to have your luggage scanned prior to stepping on the train, continuing to use the cell phone while traveling and also ordering food at the bar. I fly to much!
Laval, Quebec, Canada

Last night, I got in late because my first leg from St. Louis to Chicago was delayed to due a storm, which made me miss my connector to Quebec. I ended up staying overnight at an airport hotel and left early in the morning for Laval. Unfortunately, my luggage did not make it with me the next day - rarely do I check my bags, and now I remember why! That evening after work I walked about a mile to a discount store to purchase an outfit and some makeup for the next day. Thankfully, by the end of the second day, the airline returned my luggage.
Providence, Rhode Island, United States

As mentioned in the earlier blog, I took a train from Boston to arrive in Providence where the hotel shuttle picked me up to take me to the hotel. Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Initially I rented a car because I not only had to go to Boston this week, but also to Providence, RI. I had landed in Providence, with the understanding that I would get a car, drive to Boston, return to Providence for the other site and then drop it back off later in the week. However, after landing and arriving at the Avis counter, I realized that I didn't have my drivers license with me. Although I was hopeful that they would let that slide by, especially since I was an Avis First customer and use them frequently, this particular location were sticklers and wouldn't rent the car to me. Because it was very late at night due to a delayed flight (around 11pm), I could only take a taxi, which costs over $100.00 (fortunately I don't pay for it). At the end of training in Boston, I walked to the train station which was only a 10 minute walk to board a train to take me to downtown Providence. I was just at the Radisson Boston a couple weeks ago training a different site, and now I'm staying here because I'm training at this property. Small world!
