Essaouira, Morocco

Okay, no idea how to say this one as of yet... and the default map locator not able to find it either, must mean it's going to be very interesting...

What a great place, the people are friendly, but not too friendly, the food is delicious, and the weather couldn't be better.
Fez, Morocco

My second Moroccan city, Fez. Wonder what I could bring home from here...

No I didn't do it... there is NO fez hat in my suitcase, I repeat NO fez hat. I did take a photo of someone in Fez wearing one. That's good enough for now.

Fez is amazing! Can't wait to post the photos. We hired a guide to assist us here as Justin's time there had been very limited before and everyone we visited with said *hire a guide* Gino was his name and he held in his possession an IL drivers liscense. So his English was pretty good. He took us to his house for some mint and saffron tea, the Johnny Walker of Morocco he said.

More on this later:
Rabat, Morocco

Justin is handling the lodging and itinerary details...bless him for taking care of the details! I'm anxious to see him, I'll be the first family member to lay eyes on him since his departure in March of 07.

As planned Justin was at the airport: He looks GREAT! More mature I suppose as he just finished his health physical and swears he is only half a pound down from when he left the states. I orginally thought he might have dropped a few pounds.

We spent only 1 night in Rabat. Met up with some Peace Corps volunteers for dinner and had a good walk about the city. Jet lag wasn't too bad and the only time I became frustrated was in Paris, you're shocked I'm sure. I found it a challenge to locate the checkin point for my flight on to Morocco. Lots of windows for Air France, but not a lot of information on the signs. Maybe that's part of the customer service, lots of needed interaction with travel weary customers.
Springfield, Missouri, United States

Really the plan is to drive to Springfield on the 17th and spend the night at my sisters. I figure I'll go up during the early evening hours and hang out with them a bit before the grand adventure begins. Plus they want to send a few items along so that will give us plenty of time to pack as needed be.

I just realized I have not acquired sleeping pills for this trip...guess tylenol pm will have to do, that should be fine as the fly time will be far less than the past 2 big trips.
Berryville, Arkansas, United States

This wouldn't update on the previous entry so thought I'd try putting it on a new date. So pretend that the date says July 31.

All flights were on time and other than the duck on the motorbike there wasn't anything out of the ordinary that happened on my travel day.

Now that I've been home for a while I thought it would be nice to share some things that I miss about China.

1) all the invitations to just sit and hang out for a while
2) in the hotels on the night stand there are controls for all the lights and other electronics in the room, like the tv and the do not disturb sign, that's located by the door bell. I know, you're thinking why do you need a door bell in a hotel room, it's very convenient. You can tell if they are trying to reach you and so there is no knocking to bother the neighbors.
3) the food
4) crossing the street It's really easier there because you can cross anywhere and everyone knows the pedestrians have NO rights, so one uses extreme caution and we cross one lane at a time. It's common to stand in the middle of the street for several seconds before proceeding. Here all kinds of drivers would be hitting the brakes and swerving all over the place if folks were lined up on the center yellow. Doesn't happen there.
5) 12 cent water and other inexpensive items

I think that's enough for now, but this is subject to update without warning.
