Athens, Poros, Ermioui, Nafplion, Hydra, Aegina, Greece

Sorry it has taken so long to get these up!
We landed in Athens and sailed to Poros, Ermioui, Nafplion, Hydra, and Aegina then back to Athens. Our skipper claimed Mykonos and Santorini were "closed" bec it was "off season" which we were really dissapointed about because we knew people still lived there so it couldnt be very true--that EVERYTHING was closed. So we left it up to the skipper and where he thought would be best. It was a great time not everything I expected--grandmas greek cooking was better in my opinion!!! I did have the best bokliva ever in Hydra however!
Galwa, Ireland

Went with my roommates Mary, Jess, and Amanda. Longest travel day of my life but it was worth taking the bus to Galway after flying into Dublin. Everyone I know that has gone abroad and travels to Ireland only go to Dublin which is just a typical city and they dont get the "real" Ireland. I talked to a friend from high school that traveled Ireland for 4 weeks and he said Galway is the place to go! Im so glad we did because I saw a lot of country side, ruins, and cliffs.
Everyone here is so so happy like they have no care in the world- its unreal..they are so nice and outgoing it was hard to leave!
munich, Germany

Arrived in munich airport and immediately see mercedes ads everywhere! Traveled with my roommates once again-jess, mary, and bri..we spot a burger king immediately..dont worry only the 2nd time i have had american food since i have been abroad and it was the only thing open! I ordered water and got sparkling water which is the norm here..not so tasty : )

the first day was veryyy chilly but we did a free walking tour of the city which was very fun and interesting. That night with the same company as the walking tour we went to 4 beer halls. I had the popes favorite beer at the second which was very tasty! I cannot remember what it was called however.

the second day was snowing and we went to the first nazi concentration camp ever..I believe it is 1of 3 left?? Dachau was basically a blueprint for what the rest of the camps were based off of. It housed 80,000 prisoners at one point and was built for 5,000. Only one person ever escaped and he wrote a book. Very strange day but I am glad I went.

This night we went to a beer hall- Hofbräuhaus-that we went to the first night to have a traditional german dinner..it is where the nazi party was formed and where hitler would often meet people. Hofbräuhaus is a grrreat environment and it took us a long time to find a table bec it was so crowded with tourists but mostly locals! We ended up finding seats at a table with some friendly germans who helped us decide what to eat!
barcelona, Spain

My roommate Mary and I decided to walk(about a 10 minute walk) to the famous unfinnished Sagrada Familia by Gaudi yesterday. On the way we soon realized maybe it would have been smarter to take the metro due to the 100 mph winds! There were ENTIRE palm trees down amongst other things. Many store owners keep their doors open here regardless of the temperature and most were closing their doors.

Once we arrived to the church it was worth it. Like nothing i expected because seeing from a far and photographs and videos do zero justice. There are so many details put into the design of this church..no wonder it has taken so long to finnish! We paid to go into the church where we were unable to see much because of the construction at the time..it changes often for visitors. There is a museum in the basement of the church with history and such of Gaudi and the construction.

Madrid, Toledo, Spain

I arrived into Madrid late due to our plane from chicago to warsaw being late making us late to our flight from warsaw to madrid. Therefore, my friends Emily, Casey and I missed the bus tour of Madrid but we arrived to a really nice hotel. Ran into one of my roommates immediately at the hotel restaurant..we hit it off immediately which makes sense because she also happens to be a kappa and has the exact same birthday as me! When we were eating dinner we realize that water is much more expensive here than wine. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwhich which I soon discover is on EVERY menu in Spain.

The next day my program took us to The Valle de los Caídos (in English: Valley of the Fallen) is a monumental memorial near Madrid, conceived by Spanish dictator Francisco Franco (who is compared to Hitler) to honour those who fell during the Spanish Civil War. It was also claimed by Franco that the monument was meant to be a "national act of atonement". As a surviving artifact of Franco's rule, the monument and its Catholic basilica remain controversial, especially due to the manner and circumstances of its construction (built by political prisoners).

The next day we went to the center of the city at the Plaza Mayor and walked aroud the city past the royal palace etc. The palace reminded me a lot of Bukingham Palace!

The following day we took an hour bus ride to Toledo which is GORGEOUS! Very old and people are really nice to tourists..this was not the case in Madrid.
