Somewhere In, KY

02 Sep 08- Well, here we are heading home... So I guess this means that the perfect wedding is over.. I can't believe that the perfect wedding is over so soon. Right now we are outside of Somerset/London KY. Did I mention that the perfect wedding is over. We had an absolutely wonderful time in Asheville with Steve and Janna. We spent yesterday bicycling through the mountains of North Carolina. We rode about 18 miles and stopped in a nice little place called Marshall, NC and enjoy a nice beverage. During our bicycle trip we enjoyed the French Broad River and all that it has to offer. Belinda was surprised by a gift from Janna. The girls went on a mini shopping adventure. We mounted back up and headed back to the ride. Steve and Janna invited us back to their house for a very lovely dinner of steak, hash browns, pasta and salad. For desert they served us a delicious chocolate cake that appeared to be wedding cake. We went back to the cabin after saying our goodbyes and realizing that the perfect wedding was over. We started to pack up last night. Loading up this morning and checking out went without a hitch.. This will be the last entry for the blog. We hope that you enjoyed the blog as much as we enjoyed the trip to Asheville. And to the newlyweds, hope you enjoy your honeymoon. One last thing, does this mean the perfect wedding is now over ???????????????????????????
We are making our entry in the blog while sitting here at Mountain Springs Cabin and enjoying the view.. It is really hard to get signal here, so our blogs are kinda spotty. The wedding was absolutely wonderful. It made me want to get married all over again ( to Belinda). Well as you can see by the pictures "The Farm" was the most perfect setting for the wedding. Our "Sweet Station" was set up and ready to go. I think we handled it well. The ceremony for Josh and Erica was wonderful and you can't say enough about ALL of the preparation that Steve and Janna put into it. The food was the best and the band played into the night. Enough words about the wedding, you can see from the pictures how wonderful it was. On Sunday, Janna and Steve had a going away/thank you party for a lot of the guests and of course Erica and Josh. Plenty of food and fellowship back and Steve and Janna's home. It was good to see my cousin Joyce and enjoy time with her, Steve, Janna, Erica and Josh. Later in the day the new husband and wife left heading back to Georgia then off on their honeymoon. We left and headed back to the mountains and picked up the bicycles at the cabin to go to the NC Arboretum.. It is really pretty there. We rode around on trails and some of them were very difficult to navigate as the trail was made up of loose larger stone and was down hill... WOW was that tricky or what. All in all it was a very good time. We are getting ready to head back into Asheville and hook up with Janna and Steve for a bicycle ride along the river. Of course there will be more pictures to add to the blog. Hope you are having a wonderful day......
Asheville, NC

30 Aug 08-Sorry that we missed yesterday's blog entry, but we were are staying in an area of the mountains that receives very little wireless signal. So we made our way to a Mountain Java shop and are enjoying a cup of coffee, sandwich, relaxing and entering our lastest blog. Yesterday, we checked in at Mountain Springs Resort and we have attached pictures for your enjoyment. This place is wonderful and it is one of those places that you wouldn't know about unless someone told you.. Very much tucked away and very nice. Oh Teresa, we tried to get your most favorite car, but well finances got in the way, so we did the best we could with what we had.. Hope you like it !!!!!! We also attended the 62nd Annual Apple Festival in Hendersonville and we have those pictures for your enjoyment. One of our favorite stores in Asheville and Hendersonville is the Mast General Store. It is like an older store with wooden floors and everything in the outdoorsey things that you would want. It also has a section with candy in large barrells. We went over to "The Farm" to help set up our station for the wedding tonight. We are at the "Sweet Station", mmmmmm I wonder why we are there.. Huh... let me see, OH- I know it must be Belinda.. We got it all set up and now we wait for the guests to arrive. The setting for the wedding is very nice. That is about all for now.. We hope to have wedding pictures of Erica and Josh for you to enjoy tomorrow. See y'all......
We are about 4 hours away from the cabin in the mountains at Asheville. We had some excitement on the way here. As you can see by the pictures... NO NO NO- that is not our ride. This vehicle fire was about 4 miles west of Cincinnati and needless to say it was a TOTAL loss. And yes I stopped and got out on the interstate and took the pictures just for YOU !!!!! We filled up the gas tank here in Lexington and the price was are you ready..... $3.52.. Sorry that is still bad, but we enjoyed watching the pump price not go up as fast as in Marion. Not a lot to add, but we are looking forward to seeing family and helping in whatever way we can at the wedding. Our thoughts and prayers are still with Dad and Mom as Dad is recuperating.. More to come...
We left Asheville, NC on Saturday at about 9:30 and arrived home a little after 6:00 that evening.. We spent our last night(Friday) in Asheville with Janna and Steve enjoying their company. They took us out to a local spot called The Blue Sky Cafe and they have a web site www.iloveblueskycafe.com. Returning to Steve and Janna's we watched a very nice movie. That is how we spent our 5th Anniversary. Saturday morning we awoke to the wonderful smell of breakfast and we had some of Steve's famous eggs. As we were packing up, we realized how warm is was in Asheville and how cold it was going to be in Marion. We said our good byes to Steve and Janna and pulled out for home. The trip home was pretty much uneventful. We saw our first snow in Northern Kentucky and saw more-the further north we got.. Our last stop was a Starbucks in Greenfield and on our way home.. Thanks for joining us on our trip to the South. Hope you enjoyed.....
WOW !!!!- We didn't think you were reading it....Here we are coming towards the end of a great vacation and guess what?? TODAY is our 5th honeymoon.. That's right 5 years ago today, I (Ken) married my best friend (Belinda).. We have had a wonderful time on our vacation/honeymoon... We finished up yesterday (21 Feb 08) in Savannah by shopping around and then more shopping. We took off for Tybee Island and cruised around there for awhile and decided it was time to head to Asheville. We made the trip back to Asheville to stay with our favortie cousin and cousin-in-law. It rained on us almost all the way from Savannah to Asheville.. What a mess !!!! We have tidbits of the trip- Do you know who makes the BEST pizza in Asheville and probably in Western North Carolina.. I will tell you-it is my cousin-in-law STEVE.. Yes, he made us one great pizza when we were here the first time ( I forgot to mention that). On top of his wonderful cooking skills, he sure can pick out darn good movies.. The title of the movie was something about eating cheese.. That is all you need to know about the movie... Okay, I think I am out of the dog house on the tidbits... While at Hilton Head, Belinda and I rode almost 25 miles on our bicycles-about half of that was on the beach. Down to business..We got up late this morning.. Jan and Steve left for work and we left for the Cracker Barrel.. We went shopping in Hendersonville and did some $$$$ damage at the Mast General Store. It is our favorite General Store in the USA.. Went to the ice cream place and got ice cream and ended our trip with Starbucks.. We are finishing up this blog before Steve and Jan return from their walk, so we can go eat again... Leaving in the morning for home.. So this will be the last blog until we return home.. I can hear the sighs from all of you who are disappointed that this is the last one... Maybe we will go on another trip and take you virtually along with us.. Won't that be fun... See y'all
Fritz and Linda showed us around the island on bicycles. We went to the beach and rode down the beach for several miles. Belinda and I rode our bicycles in the Atlantic Ocean. We were told that Fritz and Linda were staying in "Tree House"-we thought sure a tree house right-BOY-were we wrong.. It is a treehouse and we have pictures. Linda and Fritz took us to the Salty Dog Cafe for lunch. They told us if we would go and stand on the orange painted feet and look up at the building we would be on a web cam.. So I did and then I called Roger to say Howdy Y'all.. See look at me- We have pictures and would love to show them to you.. So take a look and see if we didn't have fun or what.. And yes that is grass and flowers.. We really had fun today and got a little sunburned...
WOW !!! What a day... We took off today to explore more of Savannah learn more of the history here.. We started out in a coffee shop in the morning. After enjoying a cup of coffee and a delicious muffin, we went to Paula Deen's Lady and Sons and put our name in for lunch reservation. Reservations made at 1000-got us in at 1:45 in the afternoon. More shopping and some very interesting shops. We went back to The Lady and Sons to eat and had a very delicious meal on the third floor.. Walked back to the hotel to ride the bicycles in the downtown area, but room was being cleaned. So we just hung out at the hotel and then went to work out.. Had reservations at the Olde Pink House-which has a very historic past. We walked around downtown and then went to Starbucks.. Now we are back in the hotel and getting ready to go to Hilton Head Island tomorrow to ride bicycles. Meeting friends Fritz and Linda Oatis from Marion there to bicycle. Saved the best for last.. We have had many requests to see Gertie.. She is a little camera shy, but we talked her into havingher picture taken. Hope you enjoy the pictures... See you later.. Ken and Belinda
Well, since we missed the first few days of the trip- I will try and bring everyone up to date ASAP... Belinda and I have a new friend and her name is Gertie. Now before you get all excited-Gertie is a GPS unit. Gertie, Belinda and I have become very close friends. Gertie tells us where to go and we go there and we don't ask any questions.. We drove directly to our cousin and cousin in-law's home in Asheville without calling for directions. Janna and Steve fixed us a very delicious pot roast meal in their new kitchen for our arriving meal and we enjoyed each others company on Friday night. On Saturday, Steve fixed a delicious breakfast and we took off for "The North Carolina Arboretum" for a hiking expedition-that's right I said hiking... You can read more about the 426 acre wonder at www.ncarboretum.org and thanks to the many people that donate their money to make this facility possible. It includes display gardens, winding recreational trails and forestland and is surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest. Janna and Steve fixed us a very delicious breakfast on Sunday and we pulled out for Savannah at about 11:30. We arrived in warm Savannah at about 4:15-thanks to Gertie, our trusted travel companion. We went exploring in Savannah on Sunday night. We took off for the trolley tours on Monday morning at about 9:00 and ended the day back in the room at around 8:00 in the evening. We went to several places on Monday, so rather than bore you with words, I will bore you with pictures.. We are having a good time and will continue to add words and pictures on a daily basis. So you won't have to read so much.. Thanks for reading... See y'all in a few days....
