Quito, Ecuador, Ecuador

SECOND WEEK
Wednesday, February 13
Bought flowers and baloons for Valentine's day for selected people here. In Ecuador, it is called St. Valentin day. Spent most of the day heling a couple set up a blog site and putting a course online. Then went to the Mercado Central , Central Market to buy a hat for Trish.

Tuesday, February 12
Met with the hospital director about their problem of staying in touch with interns working in Asia ana agreed to help them use several tools and to develop what is called webcasts. If you get a chance, rent the DVD, the End of the Spear about the first contact with a lost tribe in the Amazon which started the HCJB hospital in the Amazon.

Monday we went to the Continental Divide between east and west South
America at 13,300 feet. HC has their own hydro electric plant there to
power their operations and about half of the country. We then went to
the Amazon basic and the headwaters. Neat but could hardly breath.
See the Photos.

Sunday was spent visiting a family here I know. It was exhausting to
speak Spanish for 11 hrs. but interesting to meet different relatives
in different towns.

Saturday we went to a place where you can stand with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and one foot in the Southern. Only place in the world. See the photo.

FIRST WEEK
First week here consisted of meeting all of the department heads among
the 800 emploees. HCJB (HC) broadcasts to most of the world except
Asia with an emphsis on short wave. The end of Communism has meant the
death of short wave. HC is now looking for alternative broadcasts such
as podcasts, online webcasts, online courses, etc. I am here to help
them.
