Bratislava, Slovakia

I continued my weekend trips to Eastern Europe with a trip to Bratislava.
It's a beautiful little city, with a nice medieval town centre, and large castle overlooking the city from a hill. (Unfortunately the castle is under renovation at the moment).
The city is only 60 km away from Vienna and easily reachable by train.
(Slovakia is now number 55 on my list of countries visited.)

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

I stopped over for a couple of days in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on my way back from Istanbul. This turned out to be a surprisingly beautiful and interesting city.

Xi'An, China

Today we went to see the Terracotta Army, which was the main reason I came to Xi'An.

It was truly one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. It is hard to imagine what else they are going to find, since they haven't even started to excavate the vast majority of the whole area, including the tomb of the emperor itself.

Xi'An, China

Xi'An is an ancient city, which used to be the capital of the empire during several dynasties. It lies pretty much in the centre of China, and is the capital of the Shaanxi region with a population of over 8 million.
