Munich, Germany

I love this place!!! What else is there to say???The city is beautiful, the people are friendly, an incredible amount to see and do, and well, the beer is always cold.....Five of us carried on from Amsterdam to Munich. I think we all fell in love with it instantly! We should have left Amsterdam sooner.On the first night we headed out for dinner and of course some of the Oktoberfest fun. We ended the night at the infamous Hofbrauhous. What a great time it was there! I was surprise to find out just how heavy a litre of beir really is!Day two we went on a walking tour of the city. It was Fabulous!! On our way back to the hostel we did a little shopping and bought the girls drindles!! FUN! Off to Oktoberfest tonight!!! We went to the grounds, found a place in a beir tent, and well, stayed the rest of the night!Day three we headed on the train to Fussen to see some castles! Again - what a day!! That night we went back to the Hafbrauhous.....Day four Brent and Val headed to London leaving three of us. We headed on the train to Dachau. We went to the memorial, it is very well done. It was a hard thing see and learn more about, but something you need to do if you are in this area. This was our last night here, so again....off to Hafbrauhous!

Amsterdam, Netherlands

We made it to Amsterdam with no problems - not really a big challenge, but.....We knew the name of our hostel but not the address. All we knew was that it is close to the red light district. Well, it wasn't close, it was in the heart of it! A little rough walking through with our packs on, but turned out to be fine, just a little overwhelming! It would have been so different if we had arrived during the day.We got into the hostel and met up with the rest of our group - it was nice to see everyone! Everyone had already adventured around during the day and filled us in on the do's and don'ts!Over the next few days we did the tourist things like canal tours, Museums, rented some bicycles and toured the streets and hit some parks. The race events went from Thursday night to Saturday night ending with the banquet.We went to Rotterdam on Sunday - that was the highlight of this Amsterdam portion for me. We took a train there and wondered the streets. We took a tram around and went to a windmill, parks, etc. Much nicer place that Amsterdam from what we saw :)Onto Munich now!

London, United Kingdom

We left Calgary early this morning and arrived in London around 3pm. The trip went well!We first headed on the tube to Victoria Station to find some accommodation. That didn't go so well so we headed for some lunch and our first pint :)We managed to find a place in Islington - about 45 minutes away from where we were, but we found a great place to stay at least!Of course we had to head out on the town the first night in.....of to the Maple Leaf Pub.It was great fun! We met up with a girl from Calgary of all places, and here group of the Couch Surfers. Great group of people & loads of fun to share a table with!!We did all of the required tourist stops (Big Ben, Parlament, Picadeli Circus, Travalgar Square, Changing of the Guard, etc.) on the first few days - lots of walking but fun. We did manage to have a few pints in between!One day we spent the entire day in Hyde Park. I think that was my favorite day in London. Great weather and just walked around, people watched and had a picnic lunch in the park.Our short is over here.....off to Amsterdam!

Singapore, Malaysia

Back to Singapore!!Here is where things get funny! Well, at least now they are funny.I got into Singapore and Stayed at Elizabeth's house - it was great to see her!! It seems that I was bit by something on may way out of Denpasar. It hurt when it happened - but I really didn't think much more of it - until it started to swell & move.A few short hours later - Elizabeth and I were at the hospital getting me admitted!Yup - lots of needles and unknown antibiotics were ingested!!! Anti Venum, Venum breakers, tetanus shot, pain killers, antibiotics........and more!A few hours later I was feeling okay again - I sure am glad I had Elizabeth there to help me!!! (thanks girl - she made me think I was about to die!!!!)Well, after a full day of shopping and the night safari at the zoo - I was back on an airplane again.......back to cold North America!!One recommendation - only if it is for just a few hours - SLEEP!!!The flights home were brutal.....economy class, middle seats!! It must have been some bad karma that day for me - NWA 'miss placed' my pack for about 2 weeks. When I did get it back - there wasn't much left in it!!! But the good news is - I cant wait to get back to Bali, I think it stole my heart!

Amed - Bali, Indonesia

Cali, Jean and I went off to Amed today!It was a great trip!!!On the way we stopped at a grocery store, toured a small village, had lunch at Cadidasa on the way too!Amed was beautiful as you can see in the pictures! I went on 2 dives here to the Liberty Wreck. It was an American WWII ship. It was really cool - it was almost right off of the shore so you didnt have to go in a boat or anything! Wow was it worth seeing!!! In Amed there really isnt too much to do but snorkle and relax!! Perfect for a few days!!I did many new things here - the wreck dives & tried Arak (the local liquor). Oh ya - I SOMEHOW ERASED MY ENTIRE MEMORY CARD!!! ##$@%&No pictures at all were left!!!

Sanur, Indonesia

While I was in Nusa - my camera decided that it was tired, and had enough. It wouldn't take a photo anymore!!! So when I went back to Ubud for 1 day to meet up with Cali I also made CD's from Lorena & Cali's pictures - I can't believe the bad camera luck!! I had a great day & night there, hit the market, went for a massage, and got onto another bus to Sanur. I found a place to stay for my last night in Sanur. It is nice here - a nice quiet spot to spend my last night......so sad!So I spend the next day on the beach until it was time to leave for the airport.

Nusa Lombongan, Indonesia

Well, I have finally decided where to head to now!! Nusa Lombongan!!!The bemo picked me up at the hotel, then stopped and picked up another couple on the way. Lorena and Andrea. Off to another port - which I have to say was nothing like Pading Bia!! We got loaded into another boat. This one was bigger, but just as crazy!! Lorena, Andrea & I went up on top where the surf boards all were tied down, lots of others were up there too!Even on the 2nd level of the boat we still got soaked on the rough boat ride to Nusa!! We got there and stayed at the Mainski Inn right on the beach. The place was okay - but it would be nice if they actually cleaned the rooms once in a while!! But, if we didnt take them there was a line of people behind us that would have!! I was so glad again to have that sleep sheet!! lolWe went to the beach ASAP when we got there - this island is beautiful!! Andrea also arranged for us to go diving the next day.Well, here is the low down on Nusa!!Surfing - %#&^ scary - incredible, but way too much for me!!Diving - WOW!! Sharks, manteres, sting rays......it is all here!!It was probably the best part of my trip here in Nusa! We had a jam down on the beach, all the travellers were great & so fun!!!We finally committed to leave on the 7th. It was a full moon and huge surf - so huge that no one was surfing - and those that did ended up in the hospital!! Lorena and I decided to pay the extra $$ and take the fast boat. We were both a little concerned about going on the other one - it would surely sink in those waves!!The fast boat ended up to be so overloaded - it really wasn't much better!!!We got into Sanur and hit the beach - packs and all! We must have looked like a site!! We then got the public bus to Ubud. Lorena was meeting some friends and I was meeting up with Cali again.
