Tokyo, Kanto, Japan

First things first: love this hostel!

Advice: when you have recieved only 2 paychecks in your 4 month stay in a country dont go to an expensive city for a holiday or if you do have a really really goot time like we did.
Tokyo was supposed to last 6 days and that turned in to 11. you wont want to leave, or ar least you wont want to leave to go back to Kyushu.
I definitly recommend staying at the Sakura Hostel in Asakusa.
There is also a good Tex-Mex food restaurant called Junkadelic in Naka-Meguro, Tokyo. They have a good selection of tequila and really good tacos de pescado.
Other places to hit up are: Harajuku, Ueno, Meiji Jingû, and Asakusa Jinja. If you are there over New Year or the Emperors birthday go to the palace and listen to the Emperors speech, just be part of the crowd.
Also the Sapporo Beer Hall near the palace is a must for a very large beer.
Fukuoka, Japan

You move to a new country (Japan) to teach. The only problem is that your company never paid you, your government tax, health insurance or rent. Your are a month and a half, countless strikes and walk outs into yout first job out of college. You can afford 100 yen bread and eggs, but thats about it.
You have an interview with another company in a nearby small town. You take it. I mean you accept the job without an indepth inspection of the new place (which you later find out is hauntingly like the old bunny)but what the hell it pays. probably.
with this new found thing called a paycheck you plan to flee during this thing called a "holiday" which you are "given" during christmas and new years. ..
shouldnt you go home instead?
"and if you crawl back it's ok. Bernie has told me that the first step in AA is to admit to yourself you have a problem and then you have to want to get better."
we haent admitted yet i guess...do its on to tokyo...
Fukuoka, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan

So, within your first week of work you find out that not just the japanese staff arent getting paid (at this point i dont think they have gotten paid for 1 or 2 months and did not get their promised summer bonus, yet are still working) but neither are you. that advance which you had banked on and had been promised by the corporation(whom you spoke with the day before you flew out) is never going to be seen. the travel plans in asia have to be put on hold cause you can barely afford food.

what a start. life after college sucks.
you suck it up hoping for the best thinking that a multi-million dollar company cannot fold. the government would do someting (haha-enron). the japanese staff would be rebelling if it were that close to total failure.
you are wrong.
welcome to life.

not many travels yet. but this is where it all starts. or at least begins to take shape.
this trip, this job was going to be your escape. now you need to flee from it.
Osaka, Kinki, Japan

Yes, I said the land of bunnies and sometimes refer to J and I in third person, keep reading it only gets better.

First night in Japan left me with giant bruises. After arriving exausted at the hotel I plopped my whole body onto the bed, which is an experience I compare to belly flopping into a pool.full of rocks. no futon just the box springs of a mattress. it gives a new meaning to "look before you sleep.. i mean leap"

Welcome to Japan.
