Bangkok, Thailand

Late Add: Just realized that there hasn't been an update since Jordan so there is about a month around Egypt I will also try to update everyone with.

Hello all!!! CMB at the writer's desk after a long hiatus. Been camping around Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa) for the pass month and 1/2 and the computers in Africa were all terribly slow if they even had any so it was impossible to update pictures or anything.

A quick update: I am now in Bangkok again and planning on heading to Koh Tao in a few days to relax in an apartment on the beach and hopefully dive a bunch. I plan on trying to organize the millions of pictures I have as I bought a computer here in Thailand and will try to update the blog a bit. Been a crazy adventure with so many pictures and stories to tell it will be hard to figure out where to start. My hopes now are to relax here in Thailand for a few weeks to recharge my traveling batteries and then head to Peru, Bolivia, Chile and then on the New Zealand and Australia before heading back to the good ol' US of A.

Hope all are doing well and can't wait to share a beer or 6 and catch up.

Cheers
CMB
I am trying to upload some video for that part before I post it.
After leaving Nairobi, we went to Lake Naivasha. The next day we did a walking game drive which was really cool to be at ground level with all the animals. Take a look. Very close to gazelles, giraffes, hippos and zebras.
This was just the beginning of an amazing 3 weeks in Africa. I will try to get more out soon but wanted to give some a taste of Africa as I know people are anxious to see more of the trip.

More to come
CMB

Also, added more info about the temple to some of the individual pics.

CMB

Abu Simbel while much smaller than Petra is equally or maybe even more amazing to see. You could only take pictures on the outside but the inside hieroglyphics where really incredible as well as the incredible scale and detail of the carvings on the outside. That is even after these carvings have been underwater for hundreds of years from the Aswan damn. The USA had helped contribute $20 billion to help rescue this lost treasure. Go USA!
Truly amazing that i know the pictures don't reflect but a great stop that should be amongst the wonders of the world. Enjoy

CMB

Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt

Started to hike up to the top of Mount Sinai at 11pm. Was about a 3 hours hike but one of the girls we were traveling with had an asthma attack which she had to go back to the bottom of the hill for. A minor set back.

Classic commentary on the way up and when we got to the top. Everyone was faded and everything was funny. Ended up getting to the cathedral at the top of the mountain about 2:30 am or so and settled in to sleep on top of a building at the church complex. Had a great view for sunrise from the top of the adobe room we slept on top of though. I am sure we pissed everyone off as we settled in and were laughing at everything. There were hundreds of people sleeping everywhere up there. Really amazing how many come up here late to catch sunrise.

Well, everyone we woke up that night got their revenge by make sure to wake us all up well before sunrise after about 2 hours sleep. Again, classic commentary that made us laugh for days. I wish I had taken some video during this time. Maybe Makely did. Not sure, will have to ask him.

All is all, it was a great experience. Enjoy some of the pics.

CMB

Leh, Jammu and Kashmir, India

Hey everyone! CMB here from my remote office in Koh Tao. Uploaded some pictures from my trip to Leh in the Indian Himalayans. It was a 16 hour drive to get there on probably the worst road I have ever seen. It is the highest road in the world as it passes through the Himalayans. Unbelievable scenery as we drove though.
The drive went from the green parts of the Himalayans to the barren dry rocky parts of the Himalayans. Truly unbelievable but I will definitely not be doing that drive again. The trip was topped off by getting a flat tire about an hour before we got to Leh in the middle of nowhere at about 10pm and it started to sleet. Funny now to look back on. Who else can say they helped change a flat in the middle of the Himalayans?
I am actually surprised we didn't blow the tire out earlier since the roads were so bad. We got stuck in a ditch earlier on the drive but I was so caught up in helping to get us out I forgot to get pictures of the moment. Finally got out when about 10 other guys piled out of the back of a truck that happened to pass by to help us. Crazy adventure.
I hope some of the pictures and vids do it justice. I went to many very old Tibetan monasteries which were really amazing. I also went river rafting through the mountains as well. The rapids were not as good as I hoped but the scenery was amazing. Jumped in the water as well which was painful it was so damn cold. Won't be doing that one again either.
Enjoy and I will try to get some Egypt and Africa pics up soon.

Sawadii krap! and take care
CMB
