Sarasota, Florida, United States

Lindsey, my niece is here. And, she helped me sign up for a Face Book Account!! Rainy day but I took a long bike ride for my exercise. Not an action packed day but spent a few hours with Mom browsing, did some reading and writing and had a great dinner. I am really eating well here - greens everyday!! Tomorrow we are all walking Siesta Key!!

Mom also said another cute senior line: "I am nearer my 'use by this date' expiration time" I told her she will probably outlive us all!!
Sarasota, Florida, United States

Well, I can't figure out how to put my pictures on this travel log. I wish Drew or Justin were here right now to help me figure this out. I am working on it, though. I did put up the room rental on craigslist last night - with pictures so, I bet I can figure this out.
I am about to go on a long bike ride on this beautiful bike that Dad bought at Goodwill for $20.... but, I wanted to write a few words. I am trying to use my time constructively here. I have been getting up early to do my practice. I am getting work done but, it is also important that I spend time with my folks. I like to give Dad a shoulder massage and hang out with Mom doing her jigsaw puzzle. Laura called this morning and we all talked for at least an hour. Laura said that they have had snow, ice, sleet and rain everyday for the past week. Oh dear!! It really felt like she was here visiting. Lindsey is coming for a few days this afternoon. She is running in a road race this morning in Tampa and will drive down afterwards. I want to hear all about her work. Yesterday I went to the Red Barn - My Mom calls it 'Senior Heaven'. You can buy almost anything there for less than other stores - so many booths. We spent a few hours and just scratched the surface. I bought a double watch (two heads) so I will always have Justin's time and my time on it. Then, when anyone I know is overseas (or traveling) I can know the time - it is fun.
I made everyone lentil soup last night - delicious and then, I went out to the pool to swim under the stars. The water is like a bathtub and it was very relaxing. We watched JUNO - great movie!!!
I hope everyone everywhere is enjoying themselves. I am almost through India in the 'Eat, Pray, Love' Book and loving every word. She captures that mind struggle (which I am always working with in my effort to not worry, to be positive, etc.) so perfectly. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants companionship on the road to spiritual development.
I am catching up on some birthday cards and correspondence. Last night I wrote to Dan who I visited in the desert last year. I am working on letters and cards to: my godchild, Emmie, my dear friend Sindee, Susan, and Dorothy. I finished and mailed my letter to Justin this morning. It is so nice to hear from you in Malta - have a nice day everyone!
Sarasota, Florida, United States

I did more physical exercise today than I have done in months!! I started this morning with a great yoga work-out before meditation. I then decided to join Mom and Dad on their daily voyage to the 'Lifestyles' Gym. I am probably one of the only people that do not know how to use all these steel machines. Well, I learned today! I did the Circuit to tone upper and lower extremities and wow, I was sore after my hour workout. What a variety of people (all ages and sizes) gathered together in this huge room full packed with steel machines and blaring M-TV music..... very different for me but I got into it!!
After a stop at the post office to mail letters to Ariana, George (an early valentine) and a letter to Jori in the Gambia we headed home for lunch.
I then went out to the pool to soak up some sun, do some writing and swim.... The pool water is perfect here! And, so I swam a lot.
Then, I decided that I should complete my day with a long walk around the Meadows here...... My legs were really feeling it by the time my hour hike was up.
We had a lovely dinner (thanks Mom!) and watched JUNO on my laptop (thanks Drew) and now it is quiet so I guess they are in bed. Tomorrow the Red Barn.
I managed to plan yoga classes, do some Waldorf Camp work, write letters, read organizational book, download my pictures, and other work.... All and all a great day.
Sarasota, Florida, United States

Long day getting packed and organized, getting myself to the Fast Park and the airport BWI and checking bags, security and to my Gate. Flight 994 was relaxing and I keep saying positive thoughts every time I started to feel a bit frustrated...... My Mom was driving up exactly the moment I walked out of baggage claim - perfect timing!! And, we had a great drive back. That huge bridge on Rt 275 is amazing and I moved to the middle lane ( I was driving). So, now I am spending a week in the land of little dogs, loud tvs and older folks holding hands and walking around - cute! As soon as I arrived I dressed and jumped in the pool and stayed for a long time. Okay, here I am!! And, I am hoping to thoroughly enjoy my time here with the older folks! More coming up... (dinner theatre, gyms, flea markets, bingo and home cooked meals!) I will download some pictures for you all to see - Mom, Dad, Shelby, etc.
Leverett, Northampton, Rt 66 to Huntington, Hadley, Massachusetts, United States

This morning I work early at Dorothy and Gerry's - the silence is so profound there. Yoga, meditation, journal and Dorothy called up to me that she was making pancakes - perfect! We shared breakfast and then, Willey showed me her last additions to her St. Joan of Arc paintings. I have to remember to send her some accurate pictures of beehives. I had to use the landline to call Drew (a Hawaiian number!). He was waiting at Sunderland Library for me. I picked him up and we went to a great little winter farmers market with local farmers coming together..... Next, we ate a great lunch in Northampton at 'Green Bean' and then, drove many miles to Huntington to meet the owner of the 35 acre blueberry farm for sale up the road on Rt. 20 in Chester. We passed the jail where Ariana is working! Doug walked us around the farm - snow deep and over your knees when you fell in....so many bushes. I gathered lots of information but I don't think I am ready for being a berry farmer!
Ariana, Drew and I bought lots of deals at Deals and Steals!! and, then, had the best sushi dinner. I have never been to such a packed sushi restaurant - the people waiting in line was incredible (lukily we got there early).
I love hanging out at Ariana and Drew's place but, left early to write this and get to bed early. I have a long day of driving and two yoga classes to teach tomorrow! I will continue this travel log in Florida in a few days!!!
Amherst, Massachusetts, United States

As I drove into the Northampton area through the hills I felt like I had arrived home and all the Merritt Parkway traffic became worth it. Ariana and Drew moved into a bigger front room in this big ole house that I slept in last night and so, I am on a futon in the back (best) room with a view of the river out my window. I slept well and had breakfast with ARiana before she left for subbing at the Shutesbury kindergarden where her housemate Katie works. Katie drove and they are geting out of school/work at 11:30 today because there's an ice storm coming.
It is February 1st and the virtue of the month is: Discretion (becomes meditative strength). I am practicing: Right Speech - Complaint-Free and wearing a blue band around my wrist (until Sindee gives me my purple one!!)
Today is: walk by the river, lunch with ARiana, maybe meet Teresa Whitaker, and get myself safely to Dorothy and Gerry's for a magical Leverett experience! It is cold here in this house - is there even heat on? I am bundled up well and loving every minute of it! Have a nice day.
