Vicksburg, Mississippi, United States

Well it has been several days since I updated this blog. From Boone NC we came down to Chattnooga just in time to miss the snow. It turned cold just as we were leaving, but we were so awe struck by the color on the side of the mountians that we did not care. We worked over our itenary because we miss judged the distance between stops. We decided that we could easily make it to Vicksburg in one day, so we changed the reservations. We were in four states today. I bet you can't guess the fourth one???

The Hampton Inn here in Vicksburg is better than most. We decided that it is for the folks comming to see the battlefields. They are right next door......

I will try to up load a few photos.
Boone, North Carolina, United States

We just returned to the Blue Ridge parkway area after a deliteful side trip to visit friends in Virginia. Lots of rain moved thru during our trip to Virginia, but the sun came out and it got cool. A lot of folkes are in the area and we had to wait a long time to get a table at the resturant. The plan is to explore the Blue ridge parkway up and down from Boone.

The area bar-b-que is quite different here. It is mostly pork, with some interesting sauces that have a vinegar base. I still think Texas bar-b-que is the best.

The Prius is running fine. It takes the hills gracefully both up and down.
Asgeville, North Carolina, United States

Man! What a day. The drive from Chattanooga to the Smokey Mountians National Park and on to the Blue Ridge Parkway was spectacular. The Changing leaves were lush with color. We really enjoyed it. We got to Asheville late. I am never too graceful about time zones. I hope I can load up some of the days photos.
Natchez, Texas, United States

Driving on I-10 east out of Houston was very crowded and full of trucks. One place had stop and go traffic. At Lake Charles we turned north on LA165 and the traffic thinned out good, but we still had lots of slowdowns because of construction. We were in no hurry so it did not matter. We stopped at Kinder for a McDonalds (Best place in town). We activated the GPS at Alexandria and it took us directly to the Hotel in Natchez, MS. We rested until about 7:30 and then went out looking for food. We ended up at a "historic place" near the river front. It was OK, but....
Marty saved the place mat that has a story about the old river boat people. The Red feather in your hat ment that you were were going to get beat up on the docks.

The view of the Mississippi river is spectacular. I hope to get a photo to add to this blog tomorrow. On to Birmingham tomorrow as we make our way thru the deep south.
