Dubai, United Arab Emirates

There's a lot happening in Dubai in general. At the moment, there's the literature festival with worldwide authors signing books, giving readings along with culutural performances. There's also the men's tennis finals on today. Visited the two remaining malls today. The Mall of the Emirates with the largest indoor ski slope and the Dubai Mall with an artificial waterfall, massive aquarium & an olympic sized iced rink. Seems the malls need more than shops to get & keep the customers in!Couldn't do the desert safari due to the sandstorm...

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Siteseeing around Dubai - aside from all the unfinished construction (lots of it), we did the gold souk & Meena Bazaar. Drove along the Jumerai stretch, but couldn't get in to see the Burj (and no it's not because I was in shorts!). There was Souk Medinat which was pretty cool - the shopping centre is built like a traditional souk, with an artificial oasis complete with abras! Then on to the Jumerai Palms and on to the Atlantis Hotel, which was awesome! The hotel is modelled on an underwater theme complete with a massive aquarium!

Singapore, Singapore

In the 3 days that we've been here, we've managed to fit in some sight seeing and mall hopping in between the thunder storms. Things are not very cheap (not cheap at all) in Singapore but it's been fun dragging Akshay through 100s of shops! Believe it or not, shopping here has been better for men!Fortunately we're staying on the outskirts of Little India and found a Chowpatty style cheap restaurant that does fantastic dhosas! We've been eating there all four nights!!!

This was supposed to be the most beautiful & secluded beach in Phuket so we decide to spend Valentines here...turns out everyone else in Phuket had the same idea and was difficult to find a spot on the beach!

Surin beach proved to be much nicer than Bangtao beach. A wider stretch of sand with pretty clear waters. Lots of big waves and beautiful sunsets!

This 8km beach already looked better than the beaches we had seen in Samui or Krabi (excl Phi Phi), but the amount of people on the beach was ridiculous! Sand was soft but brown & the water a bit murky...

6h bus ride from Krabi to where we're staying on Phuket island. Staying close to Surin beach which is a bit isolated but it's meant to be one of the better beaches; let' see?! It's really hot in Phuket, much more than Samui or Krabi!

Koh phi phi, Thailand

Fishes, fishes, fishes everywhere! Lots of snorkeling around the various bays at Phi Phi islands - Lohsamah Bay, Pileh Bay & Monkey Bay. Loads of coloured fish, coral, urchins, sea cucumbers & starfish. It was awesome!Also stopped by Maya bay at Phi Phi Ley. Famous for its scene in the film "The Beach". It was pretty stunning - a bay created by two limestone cliffs creating a bay filled with turquoise & emerald waters. The powdery sand was almosty  white & this probably could have been the most pristine beach on Thaialnd except for the glass bottles & plastic waste!The search for "The Beach" continues.....
