Today was absolutely beautiful in Springfield; sunny and high 70s. The show only ran to 2:00 so we were able to get on the road pretty quickly. Got home just after 5:00.
Walked around the city a bit more this morning and checked out the State Capital building-very cool.
Just posting pictures again today and will work on the video tomorrow. Dave took a TON of video and did a bunch of interviews, so we'll see what happens with all that.
Thanks for following along with us again; it's always great to have travel companions even if they're "virtual"

Well, I've been working on the video from today and it seems that I've run in to a problem with the upload of the raw footage.
SO...I will not have a video tonight. It's gonna have to be delayed, but that only means better stuff once I'm working off the home system.

Very cool.
Nothing like seeing a bunch of hot rods lined up in the streets of historical Springfield, IL. The "Springfield's Elvis" performed today as well as a visit by Abe Lincoln himself. Numerous bands played throughout the day as well as recieving a free shower thanks to mother nature for those who didn't shower this morning. The clouds broke at 5:00 and the sun came out in full force. A throng of people are arriving for the evening's festivities. Should be a good one.

WOW!
So the drive down was easy and pretty quick. Hit some rain, but that's how it usually goes for us.

It cleared up beautifully for us here in Springfield. Very nice downtown area. After checking into

the hotel we quickly drove to the registration area. Once we got our credentials, we headed over

to downtown Springfield. Initially we planned on doing the "cruise" where you drive around for a

while in a parade like setting, but fortunately we were able to park in the Cherry Bomb display

right on the main strip! (in your best Buy Owner voice:) Thank you Cherry Bomb!
So we had a choice spot for filming the car cruise and all the other action tonight. TONS of cars; we could have filmed for 2 hours, but you get the idea...
The streets are packed with people; I wonder what tomorrow will be like!

Today was car show day in the Collinsville Convention Center. Fortunately it was all indoors as it rained most of the day. Unfortunately the Gateway Camaro Club couldn't have their outdoor car show, which is always a great gathering as well.
Took a bunch of pictures so be sure to check 'em out.

Left just after 2:00 and got home at 7:15; not bad at all. Glad to be home and glad that it's a long holiday weekend!

So today happens to be my and Dave's 5th wedding anniversary and we spent the day at the track filming the Supercar club guys. The coolest thing was all the new 2010 Camaros! Nickey Chicago brought four! The best time I saw from one of them was 12:55, not bad for a 'street car'.
Dave even made a couple of passes in the Nova. Got some great video; including some in-car which will be on the full length dvd.
Tonight is the dinner banquet and charity auction. Tomorrow is the car show and then we're back on the road home around 3:00 or so.

So today was a travel day for everyone and just a casual meet and greet in the hotel parking lot.
Kinda like a preview as to what's going to be at the race track and car show.
A lot of beer and a lot of White Castle's for some, but mostly some good conversation catching up with everyone. They were all happy to see us there, knowing that another dvd is being filmed. That is always cool.
Track day tomorrow. Let's see some good stuff guys!

Yay, the trip went very smoothly. We left just before 9am this morning and got here at 2:30. Made great time down. It's sunny and about 80 here.
We're gonna take the Nova to the car wash and hang around for a while before going over to the Holiday Inn where everyone hangs out and meets up when they roll into town.
Tomorrow is track day where everyone gets the yearly opportunity to burn the rubber off the tires of their highly collectable muscle cars!
