CC-Mt Cook - Queenstown - Milford Sounds - Wanika.

In Mount Cook Roxy and I decided we would face the miserable weather and still head out along the Hooker Trail (nothing to do with hookers - NO REALLY!). Passing a couple of swinging bridges we took 1 1/2 hours to reach the glacial point. However, by the time we got there we were drenched right through. The wind was really strong and we were seriously nearly being blown over. We took a quick couple of snaps, not the easiest in the conditions and headed back as fast as we could. My knee was hurting and the wind spiking the rain against our bodies was horrible. But at least we did it! :o)

Yesterday we went Kayaking through part of the Milford sounds which are generally the famous pictures that you see of New Zealand. It was quite spectacular. The down side was that I got bitten about a million times by sand flies yesterday, and they have all swollen up, the thing is 5 of them are on my face and I look a little like the Elephant man - How the hell am I meant to pull now?!? I'm still recovering from the one's I got in Abel Tasmin.

I'm writing this from Wanika which is just past Queenstown. Sadly the weather is really starting to turn and the clouds and rain are here. My knee has so far prevented me from doing too much hiking and walking. It seems to be getting a little better so hopefully I'll be ok for the glacier walk.

In Queenstown my knee wasn't able to stop me doing the fly by wire, which is a small rocket type thing that you lie in and fly around a gorge and stupid miles an hour. Great fun. I also had a ride in a shot over jet, which goes over shallow waters, does 360 degree spins and loves to head for the rocks turning at the last second. All very safe of course!!!!!

On the job front a school want to give me a telephone interview in the next couple of days to start on Tuesday 29th!!!!! No settle in time for me. Probably best though as I need the dough. It's an initial 4 week contract and the school also have other campuses all over Oz. I actually had a couple of others wanting to interview me. I guess I'll be going with this one though as it starts so soon.
