Santiago, Chile

As you probably know by now we're still in Santiago. Spirits are high though as we get to enjoy another beautiful day here with our Chilean brothers and sisters. The ticket situation has been resolved thanks to our awesome leaders Zach, Garrett and Traci. We will be heading out the 25th, Monday morning. Our flight will fly directly to Bolivia, La Paz then Cochabamba.

In the mean time we've had a chance to break up and go to the different missionaries houses to spend the night. Some of us got to go out to eat some really good food at local restaurants. The youth here at the church are cooking lunch for us today...MEXICAN FOOD!

BACKTRACKING SANTIAGO
The first week of our trip was focus on "Escolares" which is basically grade school. Escolares also makes up the Youth of the Church here in Sanitago. Our group was divided into groups of about 3 or 4 and had rule over english classes. We played games focused on using their english and got to know the kids a little bit. We held activities for the Escolares those evenings to play more games and get to know them more as well as help improve their english.
The 2nd week was focus on University students. We visited universities and personaly invited and handed out flyers for the english classes that week. The english classes were for students of all levels in english. After the english classes we held activites.
We also, throughout time here, rode the metros, went skiing, played soccer with and against the Missionaries, rode the "Micros" or buses, had lunch at missioniers houses and soaked up the Chilean scenery and culture.

We have had some trouble with getting to Cochabamba but hopefully with everything now in place and the Lords guiding hand we will arrive tomorrow morning to enjoy another culture, each other and the rest of our wonderful trip!
Thanks for reading!

AFCSA Team

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Packing up and leaving Porto Alegre was tough this morning. I think everybody had a hard time saying goodbye to the families they stayed with. We made it to the airport just as the plane was boarding and after a 3 hour flight landed in Buenos Aires.

Once again the missionaries here are great. We're not sure what we're going to do this week but tomorrow we plan on passing out fliers for a youth rally the church is throwing this up coming weekend. God Bless.

The AFCSA Team
Porto Alegre, Brazil

Oi! from Porto Alegre

Well we made it to Porto Alegre this morning around 8am. We had an awesome time visiting Iguacu Falls. I think everyone felt like it was a once in a lifetime experience seeing the awesome power of God and the beauty of His creation. Everyone had lots of time to rest up on our 13 hour bus ride from Paraguay back to Brazil.

The Terry's have helped start an awesome mission here in Porto Alegre and everyone is pumped to be a part what there doing in the city. Everyone is looking forward to staying in church members homes and having the chance to practice their Portuguese; you can't leave out the awesome home cooked food they prepare. We have enjoyed seeing the different styles of each missionary team and how they each help in spreading the message in their own way. Tomorrow we're going to a drug and alcohol rehab camp to lay brick for a new dormatory that will be used as a half way house for recovering addicts. Our Architecture and Construction Science majors are looking forward to getting some experience also. From what we saw today, everyone working and staying there is devoted to seeing the place grow. The Holy Spirit works in incredible ways and this rehab facility is a great way for allowing the gospel to spread. God Bless

The AFCSA Team
Asuncion, Paraguay

Hola from Asunción, Paraguay

After a short flight from Rio Monday morning we landed in Paraguay. The cool rainy weather was quite a change from the hot, sunny weather we left behind in Brasil. I think we are all excited about being able to put our Spanish skills to work after coming from Brasil where we wern´t familiar with the language. All the missionaries who welcomed us at the airport have been true servants in making sure all our needs are met.

Arriving at the church, I think all of us were blown away by the amount of work the missionaries here in Asunción have put into turning an abandoned warehouse filled with garbage into a beautiful place of worship. Today we started off by visiting one of the orphanages in town and had a good time painting the brick wall around the building and playing with the kids. All the kids were very excited to see us. I think we are all pretty tired from picking them up and swinging them around; something they seem to enjoy a lot. We also played a few simple games with them. Check the blog for more updates and pics as the week goes on. God Bless.

The AFCSA Team

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Oy! from Rio de Janeiro

We all made it safely to Rio last Tuesday morning around 8am after flying all night. Although we were tired, it didn't stop us from enjoying the amazing beauty of Brazil. Our contact Abel met us at the airport and took us back to one of the churches he has helped plant here in Rio. I speak for all of us when I say that Abel is truly a man after God's own heart. He has shown all of us a faith not often seen back in the states.

On Wednesday, we visited another church and were able to express our thanks and the encouragement the believers here in Rio have given us with Abel helping translate our words into portuguese. The congregation we are spending time with has given up all they have to make us feel as comfortable as possible during our stay here. From feeding us delicious food to giving us a nice place to sleep, the Christians here are truly servants and we are probably encouraged more by them than they are by us. I will try to post pictures as soon as possible. Thank you all for your prayers and support. God Bless.

We have also had a chance to a do a little bit of sight seeing. We have visited a place called Sugar Loaf. These are a couple of hills that overlook the city. Some of the notable sights that can be viewed from this point are the famous Copacabana and the Christ Statue. We also got to go to the beach one afternoon. The beaches of Brazil are truly amazing.

The last couple of days we have played soccer in the mornings with the local kids. They were a little shy at first, but before long we had a lot of kids playing soccer with us. It wasn´t just kids that got involoved. Lots of people walking by would stop and watch. I don´t know if they were impressed with how good we were or laughing at how bad we are. It doesn´t matter to me. We got some attention.

Tonight we had a chance to go into the poorest neighborhoods in Rio. The streets were very narrow and cluddered with people. Abel took us to several different locations in the neighborhood so that we could sing songs for the people there. The kids in the neighborhood particularly like when we would sing songs for them. Some of their favorites were: Father Abraham, This Little Light of Mine, and If You Love Jesus. I think they were amazed to see a bunch of people our age acting like they would.

Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we will be traveling to Asuncion, Paraguay on Monday. Also, I´m sorry that it is taking so long to update the blog. We have literally been too busy. Thanks for the patience.

God Bless,
AFCSA Team
