We crossed the bridge and soon met an elderly village lady wearing the classic rice paddy hat you see in all the pictures, and she was collecting a small fee for the use of the bridge - this seems to be a theme - first the Great Wall of China and now these rice paddies. ... the day, writing and reading, just enjoying the total silence. It was so strange how quiet is was, no cars, no motor bikes, even the dogs and roosters had mellowed for the day, it was very nice and very relaxing and I can see why the Balinese all tell you that it is their favourite day of the year.
