The journey down from Kumily to Kumarakom took nearly 4 hours. We passed tea plantations, rubber plantations, rice and tapioca cultivations, but never really got into open countryside. The road is lined almost all the way with small houses, stalls, bigger shops in the small towns, and the forest comes right up to the backs of the houses. He explain how they work and types of fish they often catch and we were allowed to stay will the raised the net. They caught mostly catfish which is not really a choice fish for selling.
