... they were unable to observe the Jewish Sabbath while working or other Jewish religious holidays. We remove our shoes and enter the synagogue itself. Inside we study the floor of blue and white willow-pattern style tiles. These were hand made, so whilst they appear uniform in design, every one is slightly different...a bit like a 'spot the difference' puzzle. Apparently these arrived from Canton, China in 1762. ... total - huge Tiger Prawns for just 500 rupees and off to Maxims Cafe to have them cooked , we also had Squid Pakora and rice and bread. What a great lunch ! So tasty and so cheap , cant wait to come back!

Alas sad but we have to leave , after getting some shopping - beer/wine and Vodka from the shop - wonder how long that will last?? we got a taxi to our house rental in Alleppey.
We have booked 4 nights ( got the house from Owners Direct) 3 ...

Whew. We've been in India three days now and what a beautiful, stimulating, gratifying treat. As was promised, Kerala is very chill. We have experienced an astonishing array of kindnesses alongside a surprising lack of harrasment. Travel here is easier than any place I have been yet.

... not fun. It's very suffocating heat that just sits on you. This heat has no mercy. However, if you do make it out this way between May-August, book a day cruise as the wind on the boat helps make the weather bearable.
