... We decided it would be nice to take the passenger ferry to Ernakulam, which is the business district of the greater Kochi area. On arrival at the "terminal", we were greeted by two lines of people queuing for tickets, men & women. The men's queue was very long, the women's only a few. Here's a big tip!!! If you are travelling with a women get her to queue for as many tickets as you want. The separate queuing seems a little spurious, even at the gate to board the ferry ...

... thar he thought was worth trying out. He helped us, and finally we'd both booked and paid for our tickets to Pondicherry! YEY, it's on! Tomorrow we'll be crossing from west to east. Wonder what the bus and ride will be like!

Hope we won't melt away during the night... Such a warm room, even though we have a fan it doesn't really help like a real air conditioner would.

... than economy and meant I got there on time.

So at approximately 10.30AM my driver came and picked me up for the airport. As I arrived way too early I had plenty of time to browse the duty free and hang out in the first class lounge. ... our linens, brought us coffee, helped us figure out that one needs to plug in the blow-dryer to make it go, and generally treated us with so much kindness and care that we felt more at home there than we realized (until we left, of course). But new adventures (and another one-hour taxi ride to Cherai beach) awaited us, and like little eager beavers, we set off into the humid night, stopping for a can of Diet Pepsi along the way.

... We found a spot in the middle and followed the crowd to safety at the other side of the road. With our restricted time in India and the large distances to cover overland we decided there was no time or reason to stay in Chennai.
